Players praise Linked Worlds as a fun, accessible indie JRPG with engaging tactical combat that rewards strategic planning and a clever time mechanic that meaningfully impacts gameplay pacing. The game offers good challenge through resource management and skill selection, along with a touching story and plenty of content to explore and collect. The main criticism is that some quality-of-life improvements could help, particularly around difficulty scaling and the time mechanic's implementation on subsequent playthroughs, where players felt fewer meaningful changes occurred despite rushing throu
I was trying not to judge a book by its cover, and I am glad I did. Overall this game obviously isn't your high end JRPG, but what it is is a simple, fun, and surprisingly catchy game that is an excellent one to pick up if you are looking for an easy to enjoy game. There is plenty to collect and explore, trying new thing as new times, choosing how you push forward, and more. Early in the game you may find yourself stuck killing slimes, but once you get the general feel of the game down you can really start making some quick progress. I certainly believe there is scope to change some things for improvements ie difficulty scaling, and plenty of other QoL updates, but in the end I still recommend this to anyone looking for something simple and new.4 found this helpful
Absolutely loved this. Down below I write why I found it so special. Otherwise, I recommend it a lot: really fun, challenging, and has a great story. By far the two gameplay aspects that stood out the most are the combat, which requires planning at all times (you can easily get cooked by a gang of amoebas if you don't think ahead), and the time mechanic which completely changes the dynamic, pacing, and player's perception by changing essentially nothing in the game. [Mild spoilers below] But what I loved the most is that, at its core, there's something really moving about selflesness and the selfish nature of sacrifice. Near the end of the game, ready to face the final boss and eager to do it as early as possible to prevent it from growing stronger, I stumble upon a kid who lost his cats and needs me to find them. I give it a try but, after finding a couple, end up giving up because it's a really time consuming task. The clock is ticking and the final boss only becomes tougher with every passing day. So finally, I move on to finish the game and get the bad ending. The cats didn't have anything to do with that outcome and had everything to do. In the end the combination of story a…3 found this helpful
Fun indie title, combat is similar to classic roguelike/dungeon crawler combat in the frame of a tactical rpg, story serves its purpose and the time mechanic is very interesting in action.1 found this helpful
Linked Worlds is a simple and easy JRPG game. Probably a good game to go or enjoy during travel. (It seems like it should work on Steam deck at least there is a patch for that but I don't own one so I can't say) I finished the game 100% with all achievements and all the side quest I could find. Early game: - Challenging. I had to use my brain and manage my items well. Potions are really necessary at the early game and you can never have enough (though the limit is only 9 per item (you can increase that though)) - Fun to unlock new skills and choose what skill would benefit me the most right now. Like get a certain skill for a certain boss. - A lot of strategy involved - avoiding monsters or fighting it. Also you don't have many range attacks at the start. I had a lot of fun early game. I died a lot against the bosses and it wasn't easy. Midgame: - At around level 50 the game becomes too easy. The mobs at the mid/end gives a lot of exp and are numerous. So you level really fast with only walking to another location. - All mobs basically are down with one or two hits and some don't even hit you - Mobs don't really have a range attack at all. Only a few have and most have to walk…1 found this helpful
Excellent game, it has the right amount of difficulty so is not boring, mechanics are cool and need strategy. Story is good, but if you are not into stories in games, you will enjoy it anyways. Definitely a game that I recommend.
Wish there was more that changed over time (on my first NG+ I rushed to the end and nothing was different. seems most of the changes happen as time goes on instead) but it's quite fun and quick.
