Living Pipes

This game made me mad a little bit, at least the ending. The real thing is, the game just isn't that great to begin with, and then you get slapped with a REALLY crappy troll ending... and it rubbed me the wrong way. There is a decent attempt at world building, but it's too short to really have enough flavor. Honestly, the only things that the game does well are the visuals and the controls, but the rest of it stink-stank-stunk. The puzzles sucked, and I'll be honest, I pretty much just random lucked my way through the game, the first puzzle in particular (it was super janky). I've played a ton of these games, and this one is just not good. It [i]tries[/i], but it never gets there.

game is VERY buggy and i kept getting softlocked, and compleated the entire game the second i entered the hotel somehow? im not even sure what the hell was going on.

I can't recommend at this time. not only did the game trigger my firewall, but the game is super glitchy. I also had to force shutdown the game since there was no menu for me to quit through.

it made my computer overheat like crazy but it was somewgat enjoyable

really interesting little game, you can tell that there was such creative ideas and thought put into it - would be really cool to play a longer version of this!

"Living Pipes" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. This one is from Ringling in Florida. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students barely made a game here at all, this is more like a vertical slice, a 2% preview of what will one day be a game. Even by student demo standards this is short. Admittedly what there is of it just makes student projects even worse, because this is definitely the kind of game people would want to play... if there was more than just a few minutes of it.
