Wait a minute… I know I already wrote a review for this, but on the off chance that someone scrolls through and picks my crappy review to read, I can’t let them leave without downloading it, otherwise they’ll miss out on a fantastic experience! This was the first really good free steam game that I played…don’t misunderstand though, this isn’t good based on it being a free game, it’d still be a really good game in the $10-$15 range, but the developer is a fine young lad who decided to give us all this beautiful gift… and I think it took me like 2 years (and another 5 free games that were good, at least!) before I stopped constantly looking for some kind of hidden angle, or one of those surprise back door how-do-you-do’s, where they rob you blind on the next release… Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s just a genuine, straight up “welcome to the neighborhood” freshly baked Quiche! Stop reading my maniacal ramblings, and go play this already!!!

"Lorera" is yet another of literally thousands of garbage 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere just by existing. Kitbashed/asset flipped out of the godawful Yoyogames GameMaker Studio, this platformer was a complete and utter failure. What do you do in the game? Basic platforming, but there's also a swing mechanic that nobody asked for. Heck, nobody asked for yet another 2D retro pixel platformer, but we got one anyway. Great. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. A small metroidvania with an unusual grappling hook mechanic, a bit frustrating at times but overall a fun experience.

Игра 'Lorera' - это приятная головоломка с очаровательной пиксельной графикой и расслабляющей атмосферой. Суть геймплея заключается в перемещении плиток, чтобы создать путь для маленького существа, собирающего кристаллы. Механика проста в освоении, но по мере прохождения уровни становятся все более изобретательными и требуют логического мышления и планирования. Мне особенно понравился минималистичный дизайн и спокойная музыка, которые создают умиротворяющую атмосферу, идеально подходящую для коротких игровых сессий. Некоторые головоломки могут показаться немного сложными, особенно на поздних этапах, но всегда можно найти решение, если немного подумать. Отсутствие навязчивой рекламы тоже приятно удивляет. Тем не менее, игре не хватает разнообразия в визуальном плане, и хотелось бы больше уникальных механик или элементов геймплея, чтобы поддерживать интерес на протяжении всей игры. this would probably play better on M+KB but is super awkward using twin sticks. The game is clearly designed for the user to use multiple vine swings quickly, but you've locked in that movement as soon as you've aimed the vine. you can't actually "swing" on a vine like you could a swing.

[h2] Read this if you have control issues at the start of the game. [/h2] Mini metroidvania / search action platformer where you get a cool cosmetic upgrade with each new ability. The game felt awful to play at the start. Kept moving sluggishly since I thought the vine had natural physics. Only later did I figure out how to use it properly. If you have difficulty with the controls, use the initial vine swing as a one direction air dash. Swing once in one direction, don't swing back and forth. If you miss your target, reset the swing with a preceding run on the ground. This technique should allow more people to enjoy the good adventure here.
