✦ AI summary
Players consistently praise this compact platformer for its charming art style, excellent music, and clever core mechanic centered around the torch as both a tool and weapon. The game maintains freshness throughout its short 45-minute to 1.5-hour runtime by gradually introducing new mechanics and challenges without overstaying its welcome, with players appreciating the tight level design, satisfying gameplay feel, and well-balanced difficulty that works great for short play sessions.
Short and sweet! Does not overstay its welcome! cute artstyle and lovely music! Has a very fun way of using light for survival and combat, with small addition to the gameplay at almost every level - making the game feel continually fresh whilst you get a chance to hone the basics. :-)1 found this helpful
This game is charming, fun, casual, and just the right amount of challenge. There's your gun, and your torch. You can throw your torch and use it to light torches. You can upgrade both and use as multi-purpose items as the game progresses. You go through a mini-platforming game where you solve mild puzzles using your tools. It's balanced, it's broken up into mini-areas with checkpoints which makes it great for short sessions if you prefer. The mechanics gradually expand as you go, and it's paced well. The sounds, graphics and animations are well-done and cool and appropriate. New monster types and hazards appear as you proceed. It is a small game, limited in scope. But it also knows it's limits, is crafted with a delicate touch, and nothing overstays it's welcome. It was a refreshing experience. Check out the free game this dev made - it is lovely as well. This one is worth asking price. Personally I want this dev to have my money.1 found this helpful
It's a solid quick game. This would be a hit flash game on newground back in 2010. I had some fun. Casual platformer stuff there but the torch/weapons feel satisfying to use and I wasn't getting boring at any point during playthrough. I'd say if you have an "itch" to try an indie game to play in the evening, try this one.
Enjoyed it :) The game went through some balancing, some negative reviews might be outdated now
A short 45 min - 1.25 hr game that is a very competent and difficult at times platformer. It is built around a strong central mechanic and utilizes its limited toolset to its full advantage. Very strong recommendation.
This game has a very unique vibe. The music and sound make everything a little nerve wracking, and I love that! It's also incredibly fun to play. I really appreciate all the unique applications of the torch!
