As a classically trained cellist, this is likely the most realistic and accurate conducting simulators I've ever seen. It's real, it's really real. While you're not reading a real score like you would in real life, the conducting patterns are very much real and the cueing and dynamics changes with your offhand are very integral to the cohesion and momentum of a real symphonic orchestra. If you get good at conducting in Maestro VR, I believe you will have no problems transferring these skills to a real live setting.

I saw a friend playing this, and i thought it looked like a lot of fun, but cueing instruments is much too finicky to allow me to actually feel like I'm conducting. You must cue frequently (fine) and cueing requires pointing precisely at the musician and clicking on the downbeat of their entry. Pointing so precisely takes me out of it. It's like conducting for an orchestra of morons. Plus, perhaps I learned conducting poorly, I'm an amateur at best, but I always thought of the pick up one beat before the entry was really the key moment. So it's requiring me to make an excessively precise motion at an unnatural moment.

Seeing people compare this to Mastro which is another VR orchestra conducting game but is more arcadey than Maestro VR, It can take a good 30 minutes to figure out the career mode but if you find it too difficult they have an arcade mode that is very similar to the way Maestro plays, this game apparently has 32 songs while Maestro has 21 including dlc so if you want more songs and more variety of musical eras Maestro VR is the way to go
