Magic Research 2

This was a hard review to leave. On one hand the game felt frustraiting and tedious to manage but somehow it dragged me back in, every time. I would keep thinking about ways i could optimise my strategy to beat the next seemingly impossible challenge. If you like a weird kind of puzzle solver i think this might be for you. Theres SO MUCH content. Its impressive how many interactions and how many ways you can break the game through incremental scalings. However i gotta warn you, the UI is unintuitive and the automation processes are a pain in the ass.

Crazy good. Can tell the creator put a TON of love into this game. Going to have to go play magic research 1 now that I've 100%'d this. Hopefully we'll see a magic research 3!

It took me 326 days, 8 hours, and 20 minutes to 100% [i]Magic Research 2[/i], and it was an utter joy. The former is completely passive, while the latter is on a sliding scale between "passive" and "hands-on full attention". Research underpins a lot of per-run upgrades and most of numerical metaprogression, while combat gatekeeps big metaprogression milestones and numerical per-run upgrades, and they feed each other. While I love the shifting array of interlocking systems in [i]Unnamed Space Idle[/i] and enjoyed the interplay of the many skills of [i]Melvor Idle[/i], there's something very compelling about having two extremely clear goals. I've played this for a couple of days now, most of the playtime is from running the game overnight. I really enjoyed the early and mid game, but now that I've reached the late game things have basically gotten out of control. There are so many balls to juggle at once, and I keep unlocking more and more stuff that needs to be micromanaged to the point where I'm just not enjoying this anymore. There are systems, upon systems, upon systems, which needs to be managed in various ways to get things done. There are multiple builds needed to complete various quest and tasks that requires changing a myriad of settings on multiple different screens. There's so much stuff to keep track of at this point that if I take a break I will simply not be able to pick it back up again. I did have a good amount of fun initially, but now I'm just frustrated.

GOAT of idle games, i love this one

Pretty excellent little game, well worth it for enjoyers of the genre.
