Players praise Malpractice's unique atmosphere, striking visuals, and satisfying puzzle design that rewards perseverance, with strong voicework and narrative pacing. However, the game suffers from significant technical issues including a broken quit function, unintuitive controls that make the tutorial frustrating, scanning bugs that misidentify body parts, and occasional crashes, along with a limited linking system that can trap players when unable to unlock necessary connections.
Clunky and confusing at times but the experience is exceedingly unique and well-worth a shot! Especially for the atmosphere, setting and voicework. The vibes are immaculate. With some touches of contextual refinement and better retry functionality I believe it could be one of the best medical-centric indie horrors of all time, even for the more picky palate!2 found this helpful
Great Thinking-/PuzzleGame. As a Standalone Title for this Price, i would recommend. If they release even more Content over time, its even better. Keep up the good work, Sunscorched Studios2 found this helpful
*Malpraxis* makes an rather rough first impression. The game inexplicably lacks a WORKING quit option (from either the MAIN menu or the in-game menu), meaning the only reliable way to exit is by alt-tabbing and closing it through Steam. The controls are similarly unintuitive, turning the opening stages —namely, the tutorial—into an exercise in tedium rather than onboarding. That said, perseverance is rewarded. Once the control scheme finally clicks, the underlying mechanics reveal themselves to be remarkably polished and thoughtfully designed. Visually, the game is gorgeous, with striking environments that establish an eerie, immersive atmosphere (especially when compared to similar autopsy simulators). The narrative/mystery/intrigue unfolds at a satisfying pace, woven seamlessly into the game's various autopsies and medical examinations through environmental storytelling and a cast of performances that range from competent to genuinely excellent. Although the tutorial threatens to bury the game's strengths beneath needless tedium, those willing to push through will discover a memorable and surprisingly compelling experience lurking underneath its rough edges.1 found this helpful
Overall I enjoyed my time with this game and would love to see this concept done more often. I struggled quite a bit in the beginning cause I wasn't understanding how the game wanted me to think. Once I got a grasp of what it actually wanted I had a great time. I did end up having 3 crashes which obviously isn't great but upon reloading I was able to continue without much issue. I love the idea and think this game has a spark to it that I want more of.1 found this helpful
(Edit) Hello, the game is really fun, but it's clearly unfinished. The bugs… they're everywhere. I scan hands and the game scans faces; I scan thighs and the game scans fingers. I had to restart several games because of this annoying bug, and of course, quitting the game mid-way forces you to start all over again from the beginning of the chapter. This wouldn't have bothered me if the next bug hadn't ruined the experience… The links… as many have already mentioned, the links need work. A multi-link system is needed because several symptoms and causes could be linked together. The scan glitches on some patients, making the process frustrating because you can't unlock a necessary link to complete the current procedure (seriously, stop using the word "procedure," what we're doing is much more like a simple consultation). You can miss an important element, which prevents the links from appearing and connecting. Furthermore, some seemingly obvious links are impossible to connect (nicotine and lungs, it seems obvious but it doesn't work, or hypothermia and frostbite, that doesn't work either). Far too scripted… I played to the end… you could have made an effort and added subtitles for…1 found this helpful
i played this when it was "released" and was able to get to the end no issues no stops maybe a random bug or two. very railroad, lot of dialogue, and a mystery hidden of what is real and the "monster". uninstalled, gave a quick review and waited for a update. reinstalled 12 july 2026 liked the "change" story appears to be the same. but, my GOD, bugs acting up more visually. im stuck at surgery 7, everything contradicts and is designed to fail, had to play 3 times just to figure out how to take off the shoulder pad cause one bolt wasn't his enough, then having to play spot zap the lines all while the malpractice bar is maxed out needing me to redo it 4 more times. and the last one the line bugged out and wouldn't react to the laser and then the doctor in the room came by the table and said "she needs blood" (she never moved from her spot for any reason) there were 2 other attempts in-between but the game crashed and in one instance i had to redo surgery 6 to actually play 7. as a final note i was about to post and i scull down a second and see the surgery I'm talking about so yes there must be some major bug with the malpractice on that level, cause the show video was doing…
