MARTIAN CONQUER is... I'm going to say a genuine, but awful attempt to make a game and publish it on Steam Direct and itch.io, two platforms most notable for their lack of quality control. This particular train wreck, and I'm going to say it's sincerly made despite the developer thinking it's okay to make some of the game menus with MS-Paint (I am not kidding) is a kind of hybrid turn based strategy, real time strategy, and Star Control-esque arcade shoot 'em up. It does all of these roles terribly badly. The idea of the game, based on the laughably badly mangled translation, typos and grammatical errors, is that you're in charge of the Martians attacking Earth so you need to get your fleet sorted out. There's surprising elements of depth here, but the game is so badly made it's impossible to engage with it for more than a few minutes at a time without feeling unwell. So while there's elements of fleet management, combat, resource management, etc etc, It's a clunky, incoherent and unpolished amateur mess. This game has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. …
