MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

First of all, this is an expensive pack, so be sure to know what you're getting. Games included here are: X-Men: Children of the Atom Marvel Super Heroes X-Men Vs. Street Fighter Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 The Punisher (beat'em up) Every game is an emulated arcade ROM with very little to no improvement, which is a good or a bad thing depending on who you are. All games -except The Punisher- let you play their original arcade version, an implemented versus mode and a kind of unpolished training mode. Also, of course: online, with full rollback netcode. Very simple and easy to launch. Nonetheless, finding opponents will always be a lottery, especially in games that are not Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. There's a number of general options and for each game. Among those: selecting the version you want to launch, screen filters (mediocre, though), a couple borders for the 4:3 aspect ratio, and more. Outside of the games, there's extra content like high quality images and music, which I personally love! Nonetheless, I finished my time with them in less time than I expected. This collection boasts decent connectivity and a preservation of the legendary fighter Marvel vs Capcom 2. The price is not great as of writing this review, but this set of games is done justice otherwise. 8/10

A nice trip down memory lane. All the games work well, there are some decent quality of life options like quicksaving, the games themselves are all old little treasures. Ideally get it on some sale, but even at full price it's a decent bargain for those of us who played these in the nineties <3

Played on Switch primarily, as well as original hardware. X-Men vs SF, MVC1 and MVC2 are the standout fighters here. Capcom provided unexpected support post launch, now featuring the original ROM of XvSF as an option. This is significant as the original revision is the option of choice in competitive play, and has never before been available in a commercial release outside of the arcades. Only negative I can say is a lack of a color editor for offline play, though this is more of a console-specific gripe rather than a steam one. The Punisher is no slouch either for beat em up fans. Gunplay, rolling, and good spacing are the name of the game here. I had a great time with this one. This was a dream release, especially given the long history these games have had being delisted/out of print on PS3/360 and DC. One can only hope Tatsunoko vs Capcom, JJBA HFTF and Tech Romancer receive the same treatment someday. Who knows? Maybe even Capcom Fighting All Stars will escape the vault? Only time will tell. Regardless, this collection is a must-buy for any tag fighter fans.
