Fornea, the Green Continent is known for its vast expanses and warm climate.
Stretching from the south to west is the Flare Kingdom, who has been conquering its neighboring countries in the recent years.
In the southern tip lies the Kingdom of Mondoa. Fearing the growing power of Flare, Mondoa invades Sekrak, a smaller country to its north in attempt to obtain more territory.
Mondoa is met with fierce resistance. As the war drags on, this situation brings great joy to mercenaries who fight for coin. Many large mercenary companies use the opportunity to line their pockets with gold.
However, things are different for those without an established name.
Our story differs in many ways, focusing on the young commander Leon and his troop of but six fresh-faced mercenaries: The White Lions…

Mercenaries Saga is a charming but rough tactical RPG that emulates classic GBA-era strategy games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Players appreciate the accessible combat, cool class system, and old-school aesthetic, though many note the game feels dated with limited innovation, shallow story and character development, and annoying quality-of-life issues that were improved in later entries in the series. The consensus is that it's a decent lightweight tactics experience that scratches the genre itch, but those looking for depth or originality might find better options else
The first game in the mercenaries series, the devs were still learning so there's A LOT of "quality of life" mechanics that is only present in latter games. I recommend playing the 4th game and ahead, this first game can be really annoying and somewhat hard until you get the hang of it. There's 2 routes, the history is not terrible and the cast could have a little more personality development. Play if you really wish to know how better they become in the years.1 found this helpful
good one
Mercenaries Saga is kinda like if someone wanted to emulate Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Specifically the GBA era of Tactical/Strategy RPGs. Which i love! however, Merc Saga delivers this experience in a way that made me think of a cheesy B-Movie. This is the first game in a series of 7 so i'm expecting it to get better..if i decide to play more. but she was rough around the edges. The combat was good enough. It lets you build your character up fairly decently with some grinding but ultimately this game doesn't really compare to any of the other tactical/strategy RPGs out there. better story elsewhere, better combat elsewhere, better controls elsewhere. I honestly cant think of a single thing that Merc Saga did that was note worthy or new. Just kind of a mid game overall so the 11.99 price tag isnt actually that crazy, i mean i got my 50 hours out of it. Most of which took place during the final 3 chapters because the devs went OH ♥♥♥♥!!!! i forgot to turn the difficulty up!!! and cranked it up!!! Last 3 chapters were hard and grindy and i didnt love that. I benched half of my units just so i wouldnt have to grind for WEEKS Pick up Mercenaries Saga if you have …
Not an especially deep, gameplay or story-wise, but it scratches the itch and I'm enjoying it. The enemies won't move until you move within range, making it pretty easy. It can be brainless grind, with the secondary objective of searching maps for hidden treasures. The class system is actually kinda cool.
Honest review: Your a Mercenary, as you could probably tell by the name. So go out there and make some cash yo!!!! This is a turn base tactic game, if you like them, you'll probably like this. The AI isn't very intelligent, and you're going to need that to beat them. If they were smart and all rushed you, you'd have to grind a lot of levels to actually win. I find that you will have to do 1 or 2 free battles per progress of the story line, which isn't to bad. Some of them are more challenging then the game. Graphics are charming to me, I enjoy the old school look and feel. It states you can't use your controller, but I have not had any issues. Thankfully!!! Storyline is ok, and it has 2 different paths you can pick. I'm nearly done with my first playthrough, I dunno if I will be going another playthrough. TBD ....... Well I ended up playing the other storyline. I will say the other one is much better. If you are wondering if you need to play this series in order.... No, but its kind of clunky where the newer ones have fixed it. The game could use some optimizing, to make more efficient. I bought it on sale and I feel that I am getting my moneys worth out of it. If you …
Thoroughly enjoyed the story and gameplay. The strategy was enough to keep me engaged, but not so overwhelming that you had to constantly think 10-20 moves ahead. I feel it's a solid lightweight tactical game.
