Battles occur on quarter-view maps with height differences, wherein the front, back, and side of the map determine each battle’s outcome. Support effects depend on where allied characters from your party are in position, etc., features of high strategic maneuvers.
Talented Illustrator Makimura Shunsuke-san is the appointed character designer! Beautifully drawn characters play more active roles with rich facial expressions that vary from joy, sadness, anger, etc.
・Rebirth Exceed
The gauge in the upper right corner of the screen builds up anytime the Player attacks and defends during battles. Store up enough power to activate a particular skill called “Rebirth Exceed”! Each character has unique talents, including dealing with godly damage to enemies and reviving fallen allies who cannot fight.
・Smooth Character Animations
Animations play a more active role now. During battles, smooth animations were made by animating parts of the characters’ pixel art. Both human characters and monsters move a lot more vividly than ever compared to previous titles in the series!
・Battle Maps Transformed Into 3D
3D models produce battle maps, and the camera angles can rotate during the Player’s Turn. Hidden items, etc., can be found by rotating the camera !?
・Full Options Setting
Options settings include turning the Grid Display ON/OFF on the 3D Battle Maps, “Skill Easy Play,” and “Faster Movement Play,” etc., which are more suitable for repeat play value.

From its opening battles, it becomes clear that the game is designed for players who appreciate the deliberate pacing and positional strategy of classic grid-based combat. It doesn’t attempt to modernize the formula in any significant way; instead, it refines a familiar structure, delivering a consistent experience that feels grounded in the genre’s roots. Combat is the heart of the game, unfolding across isometric battlefields where positioning, elevation, and timing dictate success. Units gain advantages from attacking enemies from behind or from higher ground, and the placement of each character can determine whether a strategy succeeds or collapses. This emphasis on spatial awareness gives each encounter a puzzle-like quality, encouraging players to think several turns ahead. Battles are not about quick reactions but about careful planning, with each move carrying weight. The pace can feel slow at times, but it reinforces the tactical depth that defines the experience. Didnt know how I felt about this game at first, but I honestly have been having a blast with the series. With each new game they have been making improvements and I recommend this game to any other tactical rpg lovers out there1 found this helpful
Boring, grindy, lack of content, uninspired, mediocre for the best
This game has many final fantasy tactics mechanics with a low unit count (quite a lot is done with exactly 6 units), each unit can job promote according to what makes sense in their context. A Unit, that joins with a bow, can either promote into a better bow user or spear user. Or both and you can pick up skills from whatever job they have unlocked, which is nice. Other than that... This game has it all. Ambush Spawns with same turn movement and attack, insta kill RNG attacks, Stats that you first gotta learn about what they actually do (MPR +2%?), reused maps, mid story, locked highest difficulty... Its good enough to have some fun with, but has very strange game design decisions that make everything kind of worse for no good reason. I will never recommend a game with same turn attacking ambush spawns though, especially if they can spawn just 3 tiles away from your long range sniper, because why not. I do enjoy the game having an aggro mechanic, making enemy behavior predictable enough to plan around.
