I've only got 4 hours invested as I write this, and I did get it on sale for $5, but even at $10 this game would already be a bargain. There is some minor lag when enemies spawn/render but it is brief and could just be my 5 year old PC. The loot is scarce and can sometimes be hard to see, but not a major issue. All in all, I encountered at least one dino not listed on the wiki which was a fun surprise, and the AI Humans are fairly easy to beat with an axe. Can't wait to see the monthly updates happen as per their roadmap, cause this game has promise.3 found this helpful
The world is empty. I ran 40 minutes and met only one dinosaur... Buildings are empty except a few items placed always at the same place. Items are very small, hard to see them. It gives an overall clunky feeling.1 found this helpful
This game is a long way from complete. The core is solid, the game can be fun but right now it is so rough and unpleasant. Here is what is good Gameplay feels nice, backpack management is smooth (Tarkov lite) Concept gives me Dino Crisis vibes in a good way. It feels like old school Farcry Here is what it lacks or needs refined Audio - Currently the audio (what little there is) is in desperate need of polishing and balancing. Some sounds are too soft and others are way too loud. They really need to go hard on sound design to build atmosphere and tension. Graphics - visually this game is ugly and rough. The dino models are nice and that is about it. The rest of the game looks like it's running on windows 98 and not in that cool retro way. AI - Enemy AI is either broken or not yet complete. Enemies shoot at you then, if you evade, they stand and stare at corners and don't respond to you even as you whack them with a knife. Dino AI stands in one place unless triggered by you. UI - The pack UI is nice and crisp but the rest of the UI is a mess. Crafting and building menus look and feel terrible. Overall, in this current state it is a 3/10 but the potential is there if the dev(…1 found this helpful
A very respectable result for a single developer. I've enjoyed playing survival games for years and have tried many different ones. Some games are simply cobbled together from pre-existing assets, without care or efficiency. These generally disappear after a few months and are never developed further. With Mesorift, I have a completely different impression! The developer takes his time and listens to the community! I especially like his quote: "And a lot of requests were brought into the game by the community. Which is also very important to me because the player isn't the developer, but the community." The game feels like a rough diamond that's just getting some polish. Keep it up! Good luck!1 found this helpful
Very early days here. Hard to see where the game is going but it is giving off some Farcry vibes. Nice open jungle environment but very sparsely populated with anything more than roads and some faciities. Not much to do but wander around. We will see where the dev is in 6 months. Also, you die, you start all over again. Can't even go back to old save. No fun. I would describe this game as pre, pre-alpha and not a proper release. It's very crude. Buy to support the dev and live in hope that he makes this game playable.1 found this helpful
Some of the scopes in this game are awful. It is at heart a basic survival game with most loot being found on tables and ground. Great animations apart from the Jump. Awful AI pathing. Graphics are okay. Great crafting system. Basic UE Attachments and gun models. I wanted to like this game but after playing i found the game had no life and compared to similar games of this genre does not offer anything new and is strongly asset based. It runs good getting good frames without massive spikes. Menu looks old. Clothing is basic but does offer some changes in variation. It is a good foundation. Basic character models with no character creation. Cant recommend it as it just does not hit the mark as you can get similar games cheaper and better designed. Will update my review when i see Major changes addressing these things i mentioned.
