I actually really enjoyed this, was a great experience for a free game. It's sort of reminiscent of Iron Lung, having to do a mundane job but there's always this undercurrent of weirdness and fear. It works really well at the length it is, I don't think it would have held up as well if it was a longer experience, but at the same time I do sort of wish there was more of it. I'd like a bit more lore too, maybe if it was longer there could have been a bit of running around trying to escape, reading computer logs along the way or something. But again, at the same time? It works really well not letting you know what's actually going on, just like the employee you play as... you're in the dark. Definitely recommend though! I got all endings in about 40 minutes.

Microbial Sector is a really strange little horror game, and I liked how quickly it turns an ordinary first day at work into something much more unsettling. I play as a lifeform researcher who is mostly just trying to earn a paycheck, only to find myself dealing with things that clearly are not part of a normal research job. I enjoyed that contrast because the game starts with such a casual setup before gradually becoming much more disturbing. The gameplay is built around exploring the facility and operating different research machines. I have to figure out what the equipment does, interact with the environment and pay attention to what is happening around me. I liked this because the machines give the game something for me to actively interact with instead of making the whole thing a simple walking simulator. The short length also works well with the structure. I am not expected to spend hours wandering around the same facility, so the game can introduce its strange ideas, build tension and move toward an ending before the concept becomes repetitive. Really fun little free game. I'm going to go into detail below but *spoilers* Before you continue! Okay. I enjoyed 5/6 endings. All felt satisfying except one. I only have two qualms. 1. The "You knew too much ending". I had to look that one up because the only trigger was to see the face in the specimen while getting fired. There's no indication something's changed when you see the face, so I didn't think to test trying to leave with or without having seen the face. A few other possible endings I attempted was placing the bowl on the conveyor to trick the system into not sending the specimen to the doomed scientist next door. It felt unsatisfying this was not the case. I also thought that entering the correct number for the specimen, being the same as the blue growth earlier in an stage, instead of 0000 would warn the scientist of the danger. All of these I thought were better potential endings than "you know too much". 2. It was really dissapointing that removing the jar never did anything. When trying to figure out the final ending I kept trying to infect myself with the specimens by removing the jars. Thinking that maybe if it caused me a strange growth or transformation…
