The mechanics are very innovative, letting the player build their own trail for enemies to follow by making a maze out of rocks. However, the gameplay is repetitive and there is no progression in player abilities aside from moving through the story. Also, the story doesn't have an ending and doesn't seem very well thought-out. The story has the faint sillhouette of a core conflict, but at what feels like the halfway point, the protagonist just says "(to be continued.)" and the game ends with no closure or elaboration. It also doesn't feel like there's a lot of difficulty scaling as you progress through the story. As you reach further waves, the number of enemies never increases; they just get more health. Sometimes there are flying ones which appear in greater numbers, and sometimes there are bosses, but the bosses don't really have any rhyme or reason to when they appear and feel more boring than anything. It's kinda just like "Here, have some painfully slow and tanky rock monsters" and you're like "Oh okay. Damn." Also placing towers/gems is RNG-based. You mostly just control where they go, and the game decides what type and level they are. Sure, you can reroll, downgrade, and me…
"Miner Lou" is a non-free tower defense/match-3 hybrid that looks like it was rejected from mobile app stores and also has weirdly mismatched game assets that look nothing like each other in terms of style. So, probably asset flip. Anyway all you do here is play a really poor, sluggish, bug riddled TD nightmare, but your tower upgrades from from an equally awful match-3 minigame. Is any of this fun? Certainly not when combined with such a poor technical implementation. I couldn't find this on the app stores, but for all intents and purposes this could have been a mobile app. We're here for best of breed PC gaming experiences, and this is about as far from that as you can get. That's reason enough to avoid this mess. We don't spend thousands on gaming hardware just to run low-effort iPhone apps on our desktops. The game assets here look a lot better than the actual game they're assembled on... that doesn't mean this is necessarily an asset flip or a kitbash, because there's no proof. But what matters is that this has all the same terrible quality as asset flips, and at the end of the day that's one of the reasons people don't like asset flips, the quality is bad. That's a p…
Really like this game cant wait for more updates!
