Miner Tower Defense

Not very fun, I've only gotten three levels in, but it seems needlessly hard, with limited action options and a very confining map. As you might expect, going down is easier than up, and the edges of the map are surprisingly close to the start. There is no way to make the monsters path harder, only easier. All in all, totally blah and unengaging. One thumb down. NOTE: Is it normal for a game to ask permission to make a change every time to play? I am used to seeing that on install. Seemed weird.

Thought it might be a cute little TD type game. It is not. it is needlessly slow with janky controls. I felt limited the entire time I played in regards to movement, tower selection and and tower placement. Map grids are way too small to really be any fun. Glad I got it for free.

Miner Tower Defense is a really interesting combination of genres, and I liked how naturally the mining and tower defense mechanics fit together. Instead of simply placing towers on a prepared map, I have to dig through underground areas, collect minerals and then use those materials to build my defenses. That extra step makes the usual tower defense loop feel more involved. The mining is probably my favorite part because it gives me control over the battlefield. I can dig through the underground tunnels and change the terrain to create better defensive positions. I enjoyed thinking about where I wanted enemies to travel and how I could make the maze work in my favor. It turns building defenses into part of the strategy instead of something I do separately. The tower defense itself is straightforward but satisfying. Once the monsters start coming through the underground channels, I have to make sure my towers are positioned where they can deal with the waves effectively. Gathering minerals adds an interesting pressure because I need resources to strengthen my defenses while also paying attention to where the next attack is coming from.
