Monterey Jack was way more intense than I expected going in. The concept alone — a killer cheese man stalking you through a factory while you’re trying to save your best friend — is wild, but the game actually backs it up with real tension. The atmosphere inside the factory kept me on edge almost the entire time. There were multiple moments where I genuinely felt the pressure building, especially when I thought I was safe and definitely wasn’t. The pacing was solid and it didn’t drag, which made finishing it feel satisfying rather than exhausting. It’s a fun, creative horror experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still manages to create real suspense. If you like unique indie horror games that keep you moving and guessing, Monterey Jack is definitely worth checking out.

It's a fun FNAF Security Breach-like game with combat elements. 🧀 I had a good time with it--come check out my playthru! https://youtu.be/FBgAVLhghtM

Fun indie game, classic DBS style but most polished yet

Monterey Jack was a game I had my eye on before it even released. From the start, I was excited. I’m a huge fan of games like Poppy Playtime, Indigo Park, Rainbow Gate, and Five Nights at Freddy’s—and this was definitely giving that same kind of vibe. And honestly? It delivered. The visuals and overall atmosphere were exactly what I was hoping for. It leans into that familiar mascot horror style, and it does it well. Everything felt polished, colorful in that slightly unsettling way, and very true to the genre. What I really liked is that it doesn’t just copy those games—it adds its own spin. The mechanics are a little different, and in a good way. You’ve got your classic chase sequences and “hide for your life” moments, but there’s also actual combat. Instead of just running and escaping, there are times where you have to stand your ground and fight back against the antagonists, which adds a nice layer of variety. The jumpscares hit pretty well too. They’re not constant, but when they happen, they land. That said, the game isn’t overly stressful or deeply creepy. It does its job, but it’s not going to have you on edge the entire time—and depending on what you’re looking for…
