Motorsport Manager

I downloaded this game a few years ago when it was still free. I started the career mode because I love building a team up from the ashes, so I took over the crummiest team. Hint #1 - be careful about the year-end target that you set for the team. Do not agree to a contract in which you claim you are going to be first or even 2nd if you are not a qualify team. I started my own team, then got cocky after 8 seasons because I finally was doing good (yes, it is going to take you several years to work you way up). But the I got fired from my team because I did not meet my goals. So, then I took over another team and made it my mission to build them up and beat my old team. It took me another 8 or so seasons to finally achieve that. Hint #2A - pay attention to league series rules/settings. If there is no refueling, there is no reason to hire lead mechanics with the "half the fueling time" perk. So, I guess this hint has two parts... Hint #2B - pay attention to the perks of your lead mechanics that you hire (but do not overpay). The best manager game out there

Bought this on sale some time ago, because I played Grand Prix Manager back in the day and was looking for something similar and reasonably modern. Didn't install it until a recent, hungover sunday afternoon and played for several hours straight in the first session. Set difficulty to normal/realistic, created my own team and made a few bad beginner calls in the first season that cost me financially (no sponsor appeal means less income means very slow improvement) and had me stuck in Coloni F1 mode. In the second, I've transitioned to the Pacific Racing team stage and I think I've reached the Forti stage by season three, still firmly taped to the bottom of the roster, but at least finishing with an occasional lucky break. Despite the lack of success, the team is still functioning, better parts are slowly trickling in and next year's car might just catapult us past the Minardi phase straight into Arrows territory. I'm sure of that. Just one. more. race.... P.S: Works great on Linux and I love that it's all fictional, equal opportunity and that the tone is on the lighthearted side. Definitely looks like a work of passion from the devs. Looking forward to Motorsport Manager 2!

I only experienced 2 crashes in my whole 369 hours of game time. The only downsides I had is that there are no more updates you need mods to have better camera angles which they can easily fix by patch..

A lot of fun. Long development curve but covers the management aspects of the game well without being overly technical and dull.
