Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Quest of Memories

Based on Mushoku Tensei Season 2, this is a 10' grid dungeon crawler with a pretty gimmicky restaurant minigame attached. The story is a highly recapped version of the anime. Game-wise, you have a variety of characters from the anime with a skilltree that actually has many shared skills between characters. In essence all characters are a remix of other characters of the same type, from a skill perspective. Combat is turn based and unfortunately incredibly repetitive, with very little improvement over time. As the game progresses you get access to more skills, meaning every fight is a constant scrolling of menus to find the 3-4 skills or items you always use. Boss fights all boil down to debuff ATK, debuff DEF, attack, get wasted by some cheesy AOE, heal your characters, rinse and repeat. I like the anime and it was nice to see the characters at work, but I think this is a pretty boring game. I gave up beating the post-endgame optional boss because it was just too uninteresting to fight. It's not a "bad" game, but content is fairly bland and it's not very fun.

Love the series. Game is terrible. It looks like it was developed on Windows '97. Worst part is it was on sale for $35 and it should barely be worth $15 full price. Does not do the series/story justice.

Pure console crap.

I am a pretty decent fan of Mushoku Tensei, after my friend had me watch it, it has grown on me, and that comes from a guy who doesn't watch a lot of anime. So, when I heard there was a game of it, I thought it would be pretty fun! I had my friend join me on call for the most horrible 60 minutes of my life. For one, the game has reused assets EVERYWHERE. I hope you like Rudeus telling you to play only for 1 hour, because you will hear that multiple times while traveling through reused asset field. Every single location looks around the same, and I would forgive this if the graphics didn't look like they came from the Wii. 2nd, this game has the weirdest use of cutscenes I have ever seen. It's either a still shot taken from the anime, or the 2d png's awkwardly sliding into frame. VERY SLOWLY sliding into frame. 3rd, while the music is pretty decent, it does NOT fit the theme of the game. Why am I traveling through a place called Devils ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and hearing tropical music??? "But you only played for an hour!!!!" If a game does not interest me in a hour, then is it really worth my time? Maybe I would play longer if this game was $15 or $20, but this was almost $50!!!!! It's a decent game. Probably not worth it for the price though. Even if you are a big Mushoku Tensei fan and it is on sale for the normal 20% off, it probably still isn't worth it. Overall though; good game, no game breaking bugs that I came across, good voice acting (but only has Japanese audio), good story (basically a recap of the first 2 seasons of anime), good boss fights, fun restaurant mini-game with Roxy, and a variety of different combat builds. If it ever goes on sale for $15 or $20 then it'd probably be worth it.

Decent dungeon crawler game based on the Mushoku Tensei anime. Some things might be repetitive for players regarding its RPG elements after hours of playtime, depends on your tolerence for it. Yet by the time you get to the second half of the game, things do tend to get more challenging, incentivising the player to make use of newer and better skills to stay alive along with strategy, especially for the bosses. The bosses can get pretty difficult later on as a "group boss" or "single boss" fight. The japanese voice acting and music is pretty good in this game, but I must warn you. This game covers mostly Rudeus' adventure on the Demon continent(A little bit on the Millis continent as well). So basically the second half of season 1. In anycase feel free to try it, if you want, if that's one of your favourite arcs after turning point 1 and you want a recap of it with gameplay. It would probably take someone 20-30 hours to beat it casually, while for full completionist, it should take about 35-50 hours.
