My Museum Prologue: Treasure Hunter

Poland and Russia come together... to conduct review manipulation scams on Steam. "My Museum Prologue: Treasure Hunter" is is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "My Museum: Treasure Hunter". My Museum: Treasure Hunter is a badly made, at least in part asset flipped "job simulator" not unlike Car Mechanic Simulator, but the mini-activities you do are related to museum curation... it was badly assembled and widely reviled by gamers due to the shoddy quality and rushed, minimum viable nature aspects of that product. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not My Museum: Treasure Hunter, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "My Museum Prologue: Treasure Hunter" too. A pretty cool Prologue, its pretty raw, but gives a great insight of what the main game might be about. Im really looking forward to playing the main game. I can really recommend this prologue.

I love the idea of being able to look after my own museum, but the demo is FAR too buggy for me to consider getting the full game. Artifacts disappeared after I tried to place them in displays, and after finishing the pyramid in Egypt the game didn't really give me anything to do next. I was playing in windowed mode because I like to keep an eye on my discord notifications and I don't think the game liked that because I would constantly grab the edge of the screen, even though it normally keeps the mouse within it. Overall, not worth the time.

Not only is this game 100% not how a museum or archaeologist functions, but it's clunky, and mushes like 6 actual different degrees into one person and makes it out to be a non-scientific job that functions like Indiana Jones. (Who wasn't an archaeologist... or a museum curator.) The notes and story make a bunch of Indy references, and it is in no way a realistic sim. It's just another puzzle game that generalizes cultures and makes incredibly hard working scientists with masters degrees look like they spend all day destroying artifacts with a dremmel and airbrush. It uses basic Unity assets that games like Phasmophobia are known for, and is hard to understand what they want you to do at times. "Artifact restoration" takes an insane amount of time and is glitchy. I didn't even finish the demo, and unfortunately I played it on stream.
