Cozy game, good puzzles
Yea, this is a weird one. Probably the weirdest ND game I've played so far. The pacing is horrible, the dialogue is confusing and janky, and the characters seem just really OUT of character. Even the voice acting is dull especially Nancy's. It feels as if her VA was getting tired of the job and just phoned it in. There's little to string you along and so much of it feels out of place as if the 'story' was either rushed or written by a computer program that barely understands 2+2=4. I was also disappointed in Sonny's character - we've had hints of him all throughout the ND series and I thought it would be cool to finally meet him. But he was a giant weirdo, just completely strange and not charming whatsoever. He was happy to put people at risk and came off as this sort of weak little villain for a while. It got to the point where I was so uninvested in the story that I just followed a guide to complete as many of the late stage puzzles as quickly as I could. Though some of the puzzles and tasks are fine, the strangeness of the story and lack of proper story development and pacing made this one a tough sell. You could definitely add it to your collection and find some enjoyment in it…
Nancy Drew: The Shattered Medallion is another intriguing entry in HeR Interactive's long-running mystery adventure series, placing the iconic teenage detective in one of her most unconventional cases yet. Developed and published by HeR Interactive, the game leaves behind the familiar settings of haunted estates and secluded towns in favor of a competitive reality television show set against the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand. This fresh premise gives the adventure a distinctive identity while combining traditional detective work with physical competitions, intellectual challenges, and an overarching mystery involving an ancient artifact known as the shattered medallion. The unusual setting immediately separates this installment from its predecessors and offers longtime fans a welcome change of pace. The story begins as Nancy and her close friend George Fayne participate in Pacific Run, a globally televised competition that pushes contestants through demanding tasks requiring teamwork, strategy, and problem-solving. While the contestants focus on winning the grand prize, Nancy soon discovers that the competition serves as a cover for far more mysterious events. Hidden agen…
It's a yes because I still enjoyed playing it, but it's a mid-tier Nancy Drew at best. The concept is fun and I enjoyed the early challenges, but this might be the easiest ND I've ever played. A master sleuth game usually takes me 5-8 hours to finish (depending on how often I get stuck trying to figure out what to do next). This took me about 4, and none of the puzzle were particularly difficult. It's still an ND and the gameplay is fine, I just give this a very unenthusiastic thumbs up.
Worst game ever! It was boring and challenging. The storyline was ridiculous. Instead of making an in-person appearance, Sonny Joon should have remained mysterious.
I was really excited for this location because I love New Zealand... That being said this is one of the more disappointing games. I am a completionist so I did beat it! There is one achievement that I HATE and think that any achievement that can take 20 minutes or more than three gameplays of exactitude to complete is bologna. I am trying to be evasive for other ND'ers. ANYWAY, TLDR play it if you love Nancy, it's fine. Buy it on SALE ONLY and don't get too excited. If you expect mediocrity you will be pleasantly... satiated? TOO MANY REPEAT PAST PUIZZLES LAZY LAZY LAZY
