Neon City Survivor

A very enjoyable horde roguelite, especially for only 5 Euros. Decent amount of content for the price and the typical roguelite elements are here. I like the randomly spawning objectives throughout the runs that need you to defend an area or destroy a big object for example. Definitely something you should pick up if you're tired of vampire survivors or if there is a sale. 8/10

This is shaping up to be a good one! One of my favorites of the latest round of survivor-likes, with tons of potential in its early access. Some notable qualities: * Maps aren't procedurally generated, and they feel less "sparse" and repetitious to me. * All weapons have both a passive and active attack, with the latter having a fairly lengthy cooldown. Juggling your actives properly (and you WILL need to) makes for more engaging gameplay than your usual fully auto-shooter. * Missions popup regularly throughout the map, offering unique rewards if you can make it there and complete the challenge in time. Having things to do other than just run out the clock makes for a lot more fun. * Cyberpunk theme is always A+, and has been underutilized in this genre. Things that still need some work, but it is still EA: * Enemies could use a bit more variety. * Class options are still relatively limited. Really looking forward to seeing how this one shapes up!

Neon City Survivor is a hidden gem that masterfully blends survival, roguelike, and action RPG elements. Its four distinct zones offer a variety of captivating challenges, while class and equipment customization, along with uncovering secrets, add depth and intrigue. Each mission is a new adventure, and the ability to craft unique builds each time adds an exciting strategic element. A must-have for this genre enthusiasts!

Until the performance of the game is better, I cannot recommend. Its ok as a survivor like, but something feels off with it. Ill keep trying with future updates and will update if needed. For now I would wait for a while.

[b]UPDATE:[/b] The last update stated that the next stage (the second one) in the game would be released at the beginning of August 2023 if all went well. It is now the beginning of November 2023, and the developers have been extremely quiet. Not even a post explaining that there's been a delay. Might be a bit early to call it, but I'm betting they won't be back. Don't buy this game. [b]ORIGINAL REVIEW:[/b] Like most people, I wish Steam had a 'meh' option. I think the game has a decent amount of promise, and I had a pretty good time for most of the 3.5 hours I was playing it (yes, I left it running for a bit). But I can't recommend it right now. Mostly because the game came out with 3 to 5 hours of content at $6.49 CAD. NOTE: At time of writing, the game has one stage and three classes (characters). That may have changed when you're reading this; so check the updates. Once (if, because I know how this goes sometimes) it starts getting more content, then yes, I can say 'if you like bullet heavens and want a neon ninja themed one, this is an okay option, mileage may vary on the price'.
