About Ninja Brigade feat. Jonah Weingarten

The Story
Musician Jonah Weingarten wanders the streets at night after a show. An arcade hall catches his eye and he decides to stop there. The arcade station Ninja Brigade captures his attention. But suddenly he is drawn into the arcade station by *insert any reasonable science fiction term*. Now he is the main character himself and tries to finish the game to return to his world.

The World
The world of Ninja Brigade is set in ancient Japan and features various places. Among them, the castle and landscape of the Edo-jō, a dark cave that has fallen into oblivion, a sinister graveyard forest that turns into a mountain plagued by winds, and even hell itself (in which the final boss could possibly be placed).

Onification
The special thing about Ninja Brigade is the onification of the world. Onification is the infection with demonic energy, causing the world and its population to become unbalanced and even more savage. However, Jonah can use this energy to unleash his inner Oni.

Skills
Jonah Weingarten's Ninja Brigade is a 2D action platformer in the style of a Metroidvania. Jonah can learn new abilities during his adventure to be able to face the dangers he is confronted with. These include not only the insidious world itself, but also its inhabitants, the Yokai.

Combat
The world of Ninja Brigade is home to a wide variety of Yokai. To defeat them in action-oriented battles, Jonah uses both the speed and agility of a ninja and the strength and brutality of an oni.

Bosses
Each region is guarded by the largest and most vicious Yokai. Defeat this one to advance and steal some of its power. But be careful, always be on your guard and don't get distracted by their various features (the ones related to combat).

I finished the main game in one session. It took me around 12 hours to reach the ending and I had a lot of fun with it! The combat is tight, the level design is varied, and the world has a great atmosphere with a mix of action, platforming, and light exploration. There are tons of side quests and activities I didn’t even touch yet (fishing, village building, arcade mini-games, etc.), so I’m definitely planning to go back and explore more. The devs for sure will rot in hell for some of the normal enemies and some parts of the level designs What I really appreciate: after finishing the game, it lets you load your postgame save so you can keep playing and aim for 100% completion at your own pace. If you’re into pixel art, fast-paced gameplay, and games that respect your time while offering optional depth — this one is worth checking out.5 found this helpful
I'm truly impressed with the level of detail in this game! You can see the love that went into making it, and I can only congratulate the people behind its development. I really enjoyed it! I hope I can get all the achievements <32 found this helpful
This game suffers from unity stutter, a very common issue in many small indie sidescrolling games made using the unity engine. If the developer needs help fixing this, feel free to reach out.2 found this helpful
Imagine yourself being a ninja, hopping on some platforms, slashing and methodically through enemies, shooting some arrows, all while vibing to catchy music - sounds fun? Well, for me, it works xD Looove the pixel art! Plus the whole Edo times fantasy Ninja World setting IN AN ARCADE really got me. The game is indeed challenging, but in a nice way. In a "just one more try and I can do this" - way :D Lot's of stuff to explore, really didn't expect such a big world and amount of side stuff you can do (e.g. mini games, fishing or collecting all pets) PLUS snuggling red pandas is mandatory! Cool little Metroidvania with tight controls and stylish pixel art. Combat feels great, the soundtrack is a banger, and there’s a surprising amount of side content if you want it. Doesn’t waste your time. Fun all the way through.2 found this helpful
Constant stuttering on a 4080 super. Combat feels super stiff. A parry or ability to dodge through enemies wouldve helped a lot.
