Nova Antarctica

This is a very bad game. The tutorial has been reworked since I started to play. Not much better. The menus and inventory management are probably the worse of any game I have ever play. You need to press 3 different buttons to get in AND out of the inventory! Building anything requires to build them twice I'm not joking. Once in the inventory crafting and again in the world. WHY!!!!!!! Using items require you to naviagte 4 differents circular menus that also have their sub menus. Once again WHYYYYY? That mechanic makes it impossible to react quickly when a blizzard or other event makes you lose life quick. The game lacks direction, and navigating the map gives you no clue to what to do other than go to the south pole. If you follow the so-call tutorial you would go to the next level and skip A TON of tutorial and more stuff to do. Item you build will disapear if their is a storm leaving you stranded and having to restart from the beginning. you have to build box that can disintegrate althought the entire world is littered with boxes!!! I really like the concept of this game! I've had it wish listed for ages. The music is very relaxing, the idea is the sort of thing I adore, and the models are very cute. I DO want to recommend it, but at the moment it's in desperate need of a couple of patches. - Blizzards and Radiation weather rolls around far too quickly after each other - I've barely had time to recover from one before another is on its way - Checkpoints! I'm still on the second area, I keep dying. I just found the penguin and I died to a blizzard because I couldn't get the resources in time to build a shelter. - The camera has a tendency to drift. - Cutscenes do not pause the gameplay :( I nearly died once during a radiation storm because I was watching the cutscene of the character finding the penguin. - Controls can be a bit sluggish, as can opening the inventory or menu. - When I had the opportunity to build a base in the second area, I thought maybe that might protect me from the weather effects - nope! At the moment it feels far too costly for no benefit :( I don't know if I was supposed to complete the structure first, but as it stands I got wiped out by the elements before I could find out. [h2]WHAT JUST HIT ME?[/H2] Nova Antarctica is a quiet survival game set at the end of the world, where Earth has burned itself out, and Antarctica becomes humanity’s last hope. You play as a small, faceless child crossing a hostile landscape of snow, radiation, and silence. You don’t know who they are, You don’t know why they were chosen, You’re just trying to get them somewhere safe. That distance works, at first (even if the narrative doesn't explain it at all). The game trusts atmosphere over exposition, and when it leans into that, it’s effective. There’s a genuine sense of loneliness here, and moments where the world feels heavy with what’s been lost. Where Nova Antarctica struggles is everything that happens between those moments that grab you. Survival mechanics are present, but they don’t flow. Movement feels sluggish, crafting and healing require too many steps across too many menus. When a blizzard or radiation storm hits, the game asks you to navigate multiple wheels and key prompts while actively dying. Nova Antarctica’s devs decided that’s exactly where we should challenge our players. So, I strapped on my weather-resistant suit and set off with nothing in my backpack but a hope and dream of reaching the South Pole. What followed was a challenging, frustrating, but ultimately rewarding experience that I’m only beginning to see the fruits of my labor from. Surprisingly, those fruits are pretty satisfying, even after all of the struggles. I originally started this game just after launch and didn’t get very far into the game, but then they put out a huge update a few months afterwards that transformed the playability of the game, and really allowed me to push further into the harsh lands they had set out before me."
