Excellent deck builder, enemy action count down stops the broken loop combo builds making it harder to break than other deckbuilding games. The combo meter impact as well further adds to the complexity so a fun game for people that enjoy managing multiple resources while still getting strong combinations and different styles of play across the characters.

Novus Orbis is not only refreshing within the roguelike-ccg genre, and introduces a combo-mechanic that adds another layer of depth, it also is very well developed, and yet still in early access/active developement.

The game's developer is active and has come a long way since I first started playing it. It's still pretty basic as a Slay the Spire clone with a lighter tone to it, but the game mechanics feel fresh in a meaningful way.

Score: 3/5 It was boring and quite unpolished from my few tries at it in 2025 and mid 2026. I see potential for a decent game after Early Access, but doubt it will turn into something noteworthy. Audio/Music/SFX are okay. Music doesn't fit the more horror-themed creature battles. Gameplay is slow and moderately unintuitive, but with decent in-game pop-ups when hovering over the cards. Visuals are... okay . Some good creature designs, but combat animations are minimal/lacking/absent for most cards, with the player/creatures having some looping animations keeping me from fully disengaging mentally. Some mechanical balance issues. Got soft-locked in a battle because the game wouldn't complete an enemy's move, so I decided the game, after many updates, just wasn't worth playing at this stage in development, if ever.
