About Obscura Protocol

Step into the chilling world of Obscura Protocol, a psychological horror game where observation is your only defense. Hired by the mysterious company Obscura, your task is simple: Monitor various locations through live camera feeds and report anomalies before they spiral out of control. But nothing is ever truly simple. Each location hides its own horrors, whether it's a sleek modern mansion, a desolate mining site, or the eerie remnants of Forsaken City. Flickering lights, distorted figures, objects shifting without reason, every report matters, and missing a single anomaly could be fatal.Features:
  • Multiple Vision Modes: Switch between Night Vision, Thermal Vision, and Standard View to spot disturbances that would otherwise go unnoticed.
  • Diverse Locations: Monitor unsettling environments, each with their own secrets and threats.
  • Atmospheric Horror: The creeping dread of being watched and the unease of witnessing the inexplicable.
  • Anomaly Reporting: Identify, target, and report anomalies before they overwhelm you.
  • Survive Until Dawn: Your shift ends at 6 a.m. if you make it that long.
Are you prepared to confront what lurks in the shadows? Or will you be another \ entry in Obscura’s archives?

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this game as a solid homage to Observation Duty with fresh mechanics like night vision modes and interesting anomaly designs, praising its excellent Linux/SteamOS compatibility, intuitive controller support that works better than keyboard and mouse, and a great main menu soundtrack. However, they note the game still has rough edges and mention some unspecified controller issues that prevent it from being perfect, though they remain optimistic about its potential with polish and refinement.

I have some nitpicks and suggestions but overall I think this brings some fresh ideas to the Observation Duty format First the very good: - Works great on Linux / SteamOS - Controller support out of the box - in fact it seems to work much better on controller vs m&kb. Having two analog sticks means you can move the camera and reticle at the same time. But there's one issue with controller that I'll mention below. - Some interesting mechnics with the night vision mode etc - I like some of the anomalies, especially the corpse stuff, that was always the best part of the OD games - The main menu music is actually fantastic - I LOVE how difficulty is implemented in terms of warnings: on Easy mode you get a 'too many anomalies' warning every time you're about to lose, even if you got it already and then go clear some anomalies. That's amazing. Then on the higher levels you get one or no warnings. Fantastic improvement on the formula. Things which could be improved: - Simple typo: 'to many anomalies' -> should be 'too many anomalies' - Usability: at least on my system I cannot navigate the menus with the gamepad, I hav…
