it was a real masterpiece

okay... this game is not what i expeced. so i thought it was going to be a linear exploration walking sim with puzzles. it was just a walking sim. or dare i say it... swimming sim. i have a lot of critisisms but over all i reccomend. but heres why its bad. the jumpscares are cheap. you think ''oh did i die'' ''if i did thats cheap'' ''oh i am alive thats stupid'' not oh how startling. cause its not random you can see it coming. but it shouldnt come. the scares over all are mid. not because they are not cool but ebcause the same 2 things however many times gets old. and the enemys are not scary. you think ''oh i better avoid that thats looks bad'' than you find out ''oh they are chill'' and yet they can still kill you. but they never try and if you have any navigation skill and know they can kill you you will not die. i expected this game to have a good story... but i was semi wrong. they give you pieces of a story and expect you to know what its trying to say. but there is no way the pieces they give you form a story beyond ''scary ocean'' without thinking about it and if you do its probably ''scary ocean because lore'' which is not deep. i…

Very good at scaring you at night. While it can be dry sometimes it really feels like something is stalking you and the build up is great. 9/10 would def recommend!

This is a flawed but ambitious game, and I hope that the developers do not give up on it. The atmosphere is great. The visuals walk an interesting line between realism and stylisation, and there's some very unsettling sights and sounds. Despite it being a 'walking sim' there is some challenge, although a lack of real death (just getting sent back to the previous checkpoint) takes the sting out of it. The story is quite good, and the sparseness of clues as to what is happening is one of the game's great strengths. It makes the game feel quite Lovecraftian (if the vast ocean and indistinct monster didn't do that already). You're just dropped into a situation where you don't really understand anything and bleakness is the only realistic outlook. However the game has a lot of technical and mechanical shortcomings. While most people will likely intuit that wsad or arrow keys control movement, there is nothing that tells you this. When I first played the game, I was stuck on the starting raft and couldn't move outside of it. I restarted and then could swim through the water.
