About Olson's Boxing Challenge

Olson’s Boxing Challenge is a top down game that features 7 different modes and local multiplayer features. Have fun on the couch with your friends and kick back and have some fun with some good old boxing competition. If no friends are available, have fun in the single player or our endless challenge mode! There is much to enjoy for everyone in the boxing ring. Full controller and keyboard support are present and both allow for easy control of your fighter.

Impartial Studios is a one man operation ran by a second year college student named Jake Olson. Hence the name, “Olson’s Boxing Challenge”. The game has a lot of value for the one dollar that it costs and I promise you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck! Continued support is planned to come to Olson’s boxing challenge in the form of new game modes in the future! I’m always looking for positive and negative feedback in order to make the product better. Don’t hesitate to shoot me an email on the Impartial Studios website.

Barebones: A classic punch out mode that tests player's abilities to punch fast and block blows at the right moments.

Arcade: Power ups litter the ring and change up the game play. Stamina boosts, bear traps, health boosts, and fireballs are available for the players to find in the ring.

Ice Skates: Player speed has increased and deceleration has been set to zero! Slip n' slide around the ring in the fast paced mode.

Flame Thrower: Your fists now can throw fireballs! Don't get burnt in this hot game mode.

Aldo K.O.: A knockout game mode that will test the player's ability to gauge distance and understand timing in the ring. One solid punch will knockout your opponent!

Chaos: The game mode that combines all modes into one. The players who have mastered each rule set will be successful!

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the arcade boxing concept and acknowledge its potential as a party game, particularly at its low price point. However, the main complaints center on unpolished execution, including sluggish controls that undermine the fast-paced gameplay, lack of visual feedback for hits, unclear UI, and limited content that only provides 10-15 minutes of novelty. While some enjoy it as a casual party experience, most feel it needs significant polish and refinement to be truly recommendable.

Simple boxing arcade game. Would be a funny party drinking game to have with friends.

I can see where they were coming from when making this game. A party based version of top down arcade stylefighters from the passed, however the actual exceution lacks the neccesary polish. I tried the bare bones mode and two of the power up based modes. The entire time I was more focused on the odd slowness of the controls that doesnt really fit the kind of party gameplay they were going for. It has lots of potential and I commend them for their first game. However i simply can't recommend the game as I didn't really have fun. With a bit more polish however this could really become something.

I received a free copy via Curator Collect for review under the curator BluePaw's Underrated Games List. Was not directly contacted by the developer and/or publisher when offered this game to review. Was not offered compensation for writing this review. There's not much content that you only need to play it for like 10-15 minutes to get the general idea of it. I see potential in this game, even if it's very rookie made. There are different modes to play: Normal (Barebones), flame fists, ring is made of ice, quick-fast KO (about 3 hits and you're done), and a mode that is a randomizer in 10 second intervals for all modes. First to three (except in challenge mode) wins; be nice if you could adjust that to a higher number) Multiplayer is local only and some streamers/youtubers may have some fun with this as filler content or have some contest. I only played with a keyboard and... they're VERY AWKWARD. You move with WASD, punch with QE, and block with Spacebar. You'll need twos hands for keyboard to play this game. You are not able to customize controls, but you can switch between keyboard and controller. (Even the game highly recommends controller and I have to agree, but …

I think the game CAN be good but right now it's not. The game lacks a better visual approach, the "real fighters" image are really not good, The UI is kinda mess, I think it could be more direct. And even the gameplay itself needs more user communication/visual response, I don`t now when I hit, I don't know when I get hit. Its too soft. BUT, you can still like the game and for the price, lets be real, we can't ask THAT much. If you are into boxing, maybe the game can be more attractive.

Fantastic arcade-esque boxing game! The game modes are fun but some are more difficult than others. I remember playing a game similar called Snake Boxer 5 years ago. This is game much better by having fancier graphics and more gamemodes! I would love if the game added more intense music like in Punch Out. It would make the fights feel more intense. For one dollar you really can't go wrong. Definitely worth it!

Not bad. Really fun to play while high on something. Idk if that means anything but worth it to me.
