About One Last Breath

One Last Breath tells a story about despair but also about hope. Even if the post-apocalyptic world of this 2.5D adventure is withered, Gaia’s powers might be enough to restore life. That won’t be easy, though. Lots of fearsome mutants will hunt her mercilessly

Born from mother nature’s very last breath, Gaia has the ability to control the environment. Create paths using trunks, summon vines to hang between gaps, and solve puzzles using your powers to save our planet.

Humanity doesn’t exist anymore. Decades of pollution and greed have driven it to absolute extinction. However, its echo still can be heard. Along her journey, Gaia will visit abandoned factories filled with hazardous, human-made obstacles. How are they still working?

Gaia’s adventure is all about balance. She will find both brutality and tenderness while trying to survive strange creatures and protect the defenceless ones. Only our world can be as ruthless as charming.

● Use your supernatural powers to solve all kinds of environmental-based puzzles.
● Discover what happened to mankind while exploring a gorgeous but sorrowful world.
● Escape from lethal mutants and save the helpless wildlife.
● Enjoy an immersive experience thanks to a carefully crafted sound design.
● Don’t forget to take care of our planet in real-life!

For a game I was excited to play, One Last Breath disappointed me. This is a short 2 hour game and most of that is spent just running from left to right. There is nothing here that stands out or impresses. While I don’t want to downplay the studio’s work, this gives off “game project” vibes. Its almost as if someone took their Unreal Engine project and managed to get someone to help publish it.

Another one of those little games trying to take inspiration from Inside, but, of course, the experience is not comparable, not even close. You constantly die in ways you couldn't have possibly foreseen. The game is just unfair. Each time it happens you restart at the last checkpoint and you'd think you'd be ready this time, yet you die again, and again. The controls are not precise and responsive enough, and the traps and platforming sequences, already suffering from a blatant lack of inspiration, end up being just frustrating.

95 out of 100. Hopefully they make a sequel or another game in the same genre 3.5 hours to complete. but going back in to get the unlockables to see the alternative ending.

One last breath is a beautiful cinematic puzzle platformer that is clearly inspired by INSIDE. I hate to draw comparrisons all the time as i prefer to let games stand on their own. But the environments here feel very similar, especially the forest & farm sections. Now obviously this game doesn't reach the same heights as INSIDE but i've yet to play a game in this genre that does. One last breath does do some things to stand on its own though, namely in the form of the branches mechanic. You can both grow and wither tree branches/roots to create paths or block others. While the inital uses are very basic I found that in the later half of the game they're put to proper use with some rather enjoyable puzzles. It's a lot of trial and error though when there's monsters involved which were sometimes a bit frustrating as even a split second of hesitation meant your demise with a lenghty kill animation. Not enough to ruin the game whatsoever but enough to let me sigh from time to time. As is the custom for this genre though there's also a lot of running through enviroments, luckily the game looks very good with a nice variety of locales that each are breathtaking to behold. It may not re…
