Paige Turner

So far I'm just past the introduction of enemies into the game. What I thought was going to be a simple 10 minute game has turned into a fantastic experience. The level design gives me that old school Banjo Kazooie feel. Albeit not as flushed out or as robust there is the potential there to be interactive enough to have that appeal. The characters are a little lack luster but I'm only an hour in so I can't really say I know the whole story yet. The art style has that lite retro feel. Somehow though even with my i7, GTX 1080 and 16GB of RAM I still hit parts where the game lags slightly. Might need to be optimized or something, not sure. Came in with low expectations and was shown that indie devs still got heart. Good job. Will update again once I finish the Turners story. Current Rating: 6/10 Stars Keep at it.

Some very neat ideas in there, especially the flattening mechanic, which very much reminds me of Paper Mario. But yeah, pretty much where it ends imo. From what I played: - Not much to the story outside of jumping inside that book in level 1. - Running speed is slow. - Game audio at max sounds pretty quiet. - No sense of direction half the time makes you wonder where to go. Fortunately however, things are easily cheese-able in this game so you can make jumps up things you shouldn't be able to due to collision. Though it doesn't really help how rocky the gameplay is outside of that. 5/10 imo (at best). Though it's a free game, so yeah. Shame really, there's definitely potential in here.

"Paige Turner" is a somewhat charming but simple 3D platformer where you must explore a timeless library. The theme isn't the problem, and the artwork either, rather that the game feels like a student project, lacks polish, and overall, it's a rather shallow experience. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120…

Although not without it's problems (notably the disappearing page inventory when reloading a save), This is a cute little gaming experience. I enjoyed my time with it.
