Paper Shakespeare: To Date Or Not To Date? is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which presents the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so just like no professional writing took place here, no professional game development took place either, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. This E-book features Choose-Your-Own-Adventure elements where you make some decisions that don't do anything to change the fact this is just an E-Book. Nobody finished reading a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book and said "Boy, what a great game I just played!". Because E-books aren't games. And neither is this. This E-book Choose-Your-Own-Ad…4 found this helpful
Even though I only have a passing knowledge of Shakespeare I enjoyed this game. I really liked the fresh take on the classic characters, but how could you not when one is a werewolf and another is a robot t-rex!? The story was entertaining, has some good twists and does a very good job of capturing the essence of cliques in school. I would definitely do another couple playthroughs to check out the other love interests that I found entertaining.
So far I'm lovin the storyline. This game has it's cute quirks and I enjoy the fact that for a story/novel style game that you actually get to make decisions and your choices mean something. The historical references and how they play into the story are pretty cool.
So many references to Shakespeare, it pokes fun at the old man and dating sims! Totally would pl;ay this to just derp around on!
This game an interesting choice based game although you would have to say that some of the choices are too little and linear and some are way too over the top this lead me to be kind of overwhelmed by some of the choices. The game's artwork is something new to me and I personally liked it. Although some of the scenes I felt were using the wrong backgrounds for the narration. The main thing I like was that it was full of Shakespearean references which is what you would expect from a game that is titled this way. To conclude this game can be interesting and if you love Shakespeare then you will more than likely like this game, and I have to say the artwork is pretty impressive and props to the developers who made it. Unfortunately for me, I am not a massive fan of dating sims and I found some of the choices a little overwhelming.
It is a interesting game .I enjoy the art style the theme is plesent and is for a dating sim better than most of the ones iv played it hasa promise and i think if the dev works hard this can be one of the best ones out there for out there ideas :3
