About ParaLily

Help Lily survive the paranormal and rescue a friend, on her strange journey through a series of parallel universes, in this special blend of precision and puzzle platforming. Avoid horrifying enemies, collect magical glyphs, and discover the connection between Lily and the parallel universes.

ParaLily is one little girl’s adventure to retrieve her dear stuffed dinosaur Patches, who in the middle of the night sprung to life and took off through a mysterious door. This strange journey will take Lily through a set of dangerous and terrifying parallel universes, as she attempts to retrieve her little stuffed runaway. Lily can shift between the parallel universes at will; which will help her avoid danger, and solve puzzles while traversing the paranormal universes.

This first chapter sets the tone for the journey ahead.
Solve each puzzle. Find Patches!

Game Features

  • Familiar platforming and side-scrolling action.
  • Hand-drawn environments, characters, and animations.
  • Innovative parallel universe shifting mechanics.
  • Collectibles, puzzles, and hidden pathways.
  • Creative multi-layered level designs.

Parallel Universes

Each universe has is its own space with unique themes, enemies, and attributes. A single level cannot be traversed by only interacting with one universe, so the relative spatial relationship of each universe is critical to gameplay. When Lily changes universes her momentum carries with her, allowing her to continue a jump from one universe to the next. This combination of parallaxing parallel universes, and momentum; creates a special blend of precision and puzzle platforming, that makes ParaLily both challenging and thoughtful.

On first impression, this might seem like a pretty simple and straightforward platformer, but on closer inspection, it really shows that it is a labor of love. Even with this being the first chapter of a story, it already shows a lot of promise with where it could go if it gets to expand upon the existing mechanics. It shows a lot of attention to detail by having quite a few areas where you have multiple ways to get through areas, offering you a safe method and a much faster one that just requires a bit of skill to execute. Something else I certainly appreciate is how the developer actively pays attention to feedback. I was watching a stream with about sixteen people and it was mentioned that it would be nice to have a more convenient way of deleting save files in the game as well as a framerate limit, since there's no point to have the game running at ~1400FPS. Now, both of these are nice features to have, but not missing critical. And yet, within a few days, there's an update with those included. I'm not even all that into platformers and I really hope the developer earns enough in sales to get the chance to produce further chapters.

Paralily is a game that has a lot of potential to be a great, fully-fledged platformer. Chapter 1 was the start to an interesting story about a little girl following her friend (a small, stuffed dinosaur) into a dream-like world in which she can shift between the foreground, mid-ground, and background. The controls were fairly intuitive, and shifting between dimensions made for an interesting game concept. The puzzles were somewhat challenging but never seemed unfair or overly difficult for their place in the game. I look forward to where the team takes this game next!

I think the lane switching is very cool. The level design is also pretty good from what I played. I made it to level 10. I think. And then I stopped, because man it's just too hard for me to really continue. I think the graphics are good, the level design is good, and it's obviously a rather charming experience. You just have to have some skills that I'm lacking. So, I'll never be able to progress in the game to experience the full thing. Still, I can say I played enough to feel like it's a good game all the same. I hope it appeals to some others, because I know there are folks with far better skills than I.

Played ParaLily for the first time a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! I like to play a lot of platformers, so I really enjoyed the added element of having to switch between environments. I am very much looking forward to the release of chapter 2!

if you like side scrolling platformers with three different layers/dimensions to jump in between as you figure out how to clear the levels then this game is for you~! The levels are short and the further you progress in the game the more creative the levels become. It wasn't my cup of coffee, but I do recommend it for anyone who really enjoys this type of games.

Fun little game with lane switching. Overall, pretty fun. I do have some minor critics for the devs to look into. I was encountering a bit of input drop, especially on edge jumps, and also the ability to see where you are going, or where you are supposed to go, gets a bit difficult in some levels. Some of that is a screen scrolling issue as well as some issues where you can't see the third background, so you have to trial and error your way through. Some of that is fun, but when you have a wall of death coming at me, it can be a bit hectic and annoying. Good game, I hope the next chapters are just as good. Reminded me a lot of Contrast, and I loved that game.
