Peril by MDE is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. It's short, has a painfully generic fantasy theme, and only uses the "can throw something that can stick into stuff and act as a temporary platform" gimmick that's been done a dozen times by other games all better than this. It looks like most of the game assets are flipped from stock pixel tileset assets, but of course the developer hasn't credited the developer who created those or the developer of the basic Unreal engine platformer code they copy + pasted badly to make this train wreck. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution…

Originally a $4.99 game that went Free. About an hour of gameplay that is overall fairly mediocre. Its combat is underwhelmingly stiff. It has some simple puzzles and platforming but nothing fun or interesting to play through.

You gotta play this game if you are into Retro Style Arcade games, really! But also note that considering it's also a presicion arcage game - considering you are shooing jevelins to reach higher ground - the control response coul've been a little better in my opinion. Also, It took me some while to find where I can get my upgrades which you can find at the 19min. mark! Still a great addition to the collection! VERY short but enjoyable game. Pros: Nice soundtrack, interesting boss battles, balanced gameplay. Cons: No binding options, clunky controls for both movement and attack. Overall, very simple and doesnt really ruin the gameplay if you are not bothered by the bindings!
