About Patrician IV
Build a trading empire across medieval Europe, rising from humble merchant to powerful Hanse leader through shrewd commerce, political maneuvering, and naval warfare. Balance economics, rival sabotage, and realistic city simulation as you establish trade routes, construct production chains, and expand your influence across beautifully recreated medieval cities.
Patrician IV is the sequel to the historical trading simulation and strategy series. You are a merchant in northern Europe in the late Middle Ages when the Hanseatic League was flourishing. Your goal is to rise to the most successful and influential member of the Hanse, ultimately being elected Elderman, leader of the trading league. You start bargaining with common goods, build up your own production and establish a merchant fleet. Later on, you will gain more and more political influence and even found new towns.
However, a Hanse merchant's life can also have its dark sides. On your way to power you have to hold your ground against fierce rivals, whom you have to fight with economic competition, price wars or impure means such as sabotage. Will you even engage in piracy?

Patrician IV is a medieval trading strategy game that some players enjoy in short bursts for its pleasant aesthetics and trading mechanics, but it is severely hampered by mandatory registration with Calypso that requires data tracking, making it unplayable for returning players who find their keys marked as already in use. The common consensus among frustrated players is to avoid purchasing due to these invasive digital rights management practices, though a small portion of the community finds the core gameplay of trading and piracy enjoyable despite these barriers.
don't buy this game. calypso requires you to sign up for their data tracking. and won't start the game without it. all for a game that offers nothing new but worse mechanics, benchmarks that are not clear but are required to do anything but trade. oh, and Steam won't refund your money.9 found this helpful
Used to love this game - went to reinstall and play it again but you need to log in with a username and password... feel like I'm trying to play an Ubisoft game. Good way to make me never want to buy another Kalypso game.5 found this helpful

I don't like companies going to the monuments made by better people, paid for by the people, and setting up check points to rob you for trying to visit them. It's immoral and should be illegal. We live in the bad time line where even countries are stolen, but mercifully the people trying to rob you emboldened by wild societal banditry open carry their foul acts making at least those ones easy to spot. Will never pay your company or affiliates of your current license holders again. I hope you suffer a karmic injury in balance with the dollar amount you have accrued by through the process of making a hostage of peoples paid for games and whoring the information you gain through extortion. Know that if there was a button to make it happen I and many others would press it immediately.1 found this helpful

[h1] DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review [/h1] Patrician IV is a game developed by Gaming Minds Studios and published by Kalypso Media Digital and is the fourth game in the Patrician series The game offers some nice graphics and a nice aesthetic, although some ugly glitches here and there, it is pleasant all the same The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless Patrician IV overall, however, is a fun game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is a really good strategy game to play in short bursts!
