Philia : the Sequel to Elansar

On the birght side, I actually found that the movement felt more fluid in this one and that the environment, while still generally poor visually, was a lot easier to understand than in the previous game. The real downfall is the puzzles and the story, which are so extraordinarily bad. Its all just so bizarre and unpleasant. None of it feels like it fits together well either; all out of place and haphazardly formed. I feel like I would probably recommend Elansar over this one, but I would recommend almost anything over Elansar. Sadly, the minor improvements were overshadowed by a cofusing setting and lack of coherence.

This game is a direct tie-in to Elansar from a very different perspective. It does seem to be a few degrees harder than Elansar, so if you're looking for more of a challenge than the first game, be prepared. I do recommend that both games be purchased together and played in chronological order. The music and graphics were nice and the camera and controls feature several upgrades since the previous game. This makes for a smoother experience and enjoyable gameplay. I haven't beaten it yet but I am excited to know what will happen next, which is the mark of a good game.

So far I've probably invested a little more than 2 hours in this game, and definitely not liking it. While it is supposed to be a sequel, the continuity makes no sense. At the end of Elansar, Cedric was on a boat leaving the island, but now he's dying - where did that come from?? The puzzles are another story, and not in a good way, lol! I actually thought the first group of puzzles to open the door were quite clever, but then after that it's all downhill in my opinion once you get into the village...just randomly placed and poorly clued IMHO. And it's pretty bad when you have to use Google to both spell and find answers to bizarre questions you are being asked to gain entrance to an area, lol! I'd take Elansar over this game any day...at least that game was pretty straightforward.
