Players praise Polygon Attack's neon aesthetic, satisfying arcade-style gameplay, catchy soundtrack, and responsive controls that create a comfortable, nostalgic gaming atmosphere. However, many find the experience shallow and brief, with limited content that feels thin even at sale prices, and some note that the mouse controls feel awkward compared to gamepad play.
This game has already ruined my life, so I'll just eat a spoonful of cinnamon for every like this review gets5 found this helpful
After nearly 25 years of gaming I have come to learn that in order to enjoy your gaming experience. You don't need the newest titles or the best hardware. You don't need to have the most games or the most achievements. The thing that really sticks with you is the overall vibe. The environment you are gaming in. That feeling of home, when you open up the main menu. The best way to get that feeling of home Is good music, good visuals and a comfortable setup. This game offers all three. Really great sound track with memorable music. Stunning, bright, colorful visuals. Controls that feel good in the hand on a gamepad. The mouse did feel a bit awkward and slippery really. Polygon Attack offers great replay ability with leveling up abilities to create a unique ship for your playstyle. You get to learn what you like and what works. Simply hit new game to start over. There is a dozen or so stages, about three minutes long each. So it is not like you will be losing hours of progress and effort if you decide to try another build. In order to get the best out of my gaming catalog I have decided to build a home arcade. standing room only. Polygon Attack absolutely fits the bill for my project.…3 found this helpful
The pacing is brutally slow, but otherwise it's a fun shmup. It's not Galaga, but the chill vibe here was nice all the same.
It was on sale for 88 cents and it plays exactly like it. While I loved the neon aesthetic and the controls are fine, the presentation is bland. I thought this would have been a more fun time than it actually was.
Polygon Attack, developed and published by Magnolia Art, is an indie top-down shooter that pays homage to the simplicity and immediacy of classic arcade games. At its core, it embraces the old-school spirit of one-versus-many survival: the player commands a small craft surrounded by endless waves of geometric enemies in a world built entirely out of minimalist shapes and sharp colors. The story, such as it is, positions the player as humanity’s last line of defense against alien invaders, but in truth, narrative is secondary to the raw kinetic pleasure of dodging bullets and annihilating targets. Polygon Attack is about rhythm and reaction, not exposition, and it presents its world with stripped-down precision to focus entirely on the pulse of combat. The visual design is deliberately minimalist, using simple polygons and vector-style outlines to create a strikingly clean aesthetic that recalls the earliest days of arcade gaming. The ships, bullets, and explosions are composed of colorful geometric forms that glow vividly against the dark void of space. This contrast gives the game a distinct personality while keeping visual noise to a minimum, allowing the player to process the c…
Fun little diversion shooter that can take up a couple hours of time while you relax, game can be completed to a hundred percent in about 2 hours. Get it on sale anything more than a dollar would be too much, not because it's bad but there's not a ton of meat here. Note to achievement hunters: Achievements will not unlock UNTIL YOU EXIT THE GAME, all of them unlocked once I exited the game.
