Prison Simulator VR

I have had a good time with this for many hours on standalone Quest and PC VR. PC VR runs smoother all round and has slightly better textures, LOD and Draw distance. I have found the game to be very well optimised so you can put the supersampling through the roof depending on what headset and graphics card you are using. If you find the fastest smooth turn slightly too slow for your liking you can edit the option file in the AppData LocalLow PlayWay folder. I knocked mine up to 220 which is nice and fast like what I have it set in other Unity Engine VR games. Perhaps the developer will add some more options in the settings menu. This lengthy game surprised me with the amount of depth it has. The prison is a full size prison including outside yard, exercise apparatus such as dumbbells, pullup bar, basketball court, guard towers, showers (don't drop the soap), canteen (including kitchens) workshop, Solitary Confinement and Death Row with electric chair. You unlock more areas and jobs as you progress. Surprisingly, I have really been enjoying this game. I've never played the flat screen version, so I have nothing to compare it to. Due to the price, my expectations were abysmally low but I've anticipated this release for so long that I just had to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The prison is quite large and feels complete. Each day that passes feels different from the previous day as new tasks unlock. It's a bit janky sometimes, though. For example, while walking, my left controller keeps vibrating as if I'm bumping something but I have no idea what it is. The backpack feels tedious to use, because there is no easy way to return items to it when both hands are full. Yes, I know that the backpack can be anchored, but that sometimes causes it to disappear to the point where I can no longer pull it out again. Performance is good when I first open the game, but gradually gets worse as time goes on. Smooth rotation is a bit slow, so it makes me nauseous during longer play sessions. Overall, I'm having fun with the gameplay and I think the developers could charge a bit more for this game after a few QOL improvements and bug fixes.

This was absolutely horrible

I liked the desktop version and hoped that i would also like the vr version. Sadly this game were not meant for HTC Vive as it's clunky and bad. If you barely let go of the grip button (which tend to happen way too often) you need to push yourself to the floor, pick it up, get up and hope you don't get beat up in the mean time. Also see that the hands disapear so it gets hard to know where your hand is when you reach for stuff. Having a belt would be better then reaching for the bag on your back which can also be hard to get at times as well as place back. You may have a better experience on a Quest, but i'm not shuffeling $1000 into that when i have a working and expensive VR setup.
