Project: R.E.B.O.O.T 2, developed and published by Volens Nolens Games, is a precision-focused 2D platformer that builds its entire experience around tight control, hazard-heavy level design, and a relentless emphasis on timing. It doesn’t attempt to soften its edges or broaden its appeal—instead, it commits fully to a demanding style of gameplay that rewards persistence and exact execution while offering very little in the way of forgiveness. The premise is minimal and largely serves as a backdrop for the action. You control a robot competing in a high-risk tournament, navigating a series of deadly obstacle courses designed to test its capabilities. This framing provides just enough context to justify the escalating challenges, but the game quickly shifts its focus to mechanics rather than narrative. There is little storytelling to guide you forward; progress is defined entirely by your ability to overcome each level’s hazards. Gameplay is built around a straightforward set of controls—movement and jumping—but the simplicity of these inputs contrasts sharply with the precision required to succeed. The background music restarts every time you die, there's no options menu, and the visuals are the uninspired bare minimum. There's no save function or level select so you're required to complete the entire game in one sitting. The worst sin, however, is what a lot of these "hardcore" platformers share: extremely poor controls with levels requiring precise platforming.1 found this helpful
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…1 found this helpful
