Purgatory II, developed by New Reality Games and Eduard Mirica and published by New Reality Games, is a dark fantasy turn-based strategy title that builds upon the foundation of its predecessor while attempting to deepen both its tactical systems and narrative ambition. Set in a grim afterlife where betrayal and vengeance define the protagonist’s journey, the game places players in command of infernal legions as they wage calculated battles across hex-based maps in pursuit of redemption and revenge. It is a project that clearly strives for depth and atmosphere, even if its execution occasionally reveals the limitations of its indie origins. The story centers on General Xzus, a once-powerful warrior betrayed and cast into a purgatorial realm. Awakening among demonic forces, he resolves to assemble an army and fight his way back to the mortal world to exact revenge on those who wronged him. The narrative unfolds through text-heavy sequences and mission-based progression, with lore revealed gradually as players unlock new encounters.
