Solium Infernum

Yeah this is pretty good. Like a Civ's game lite. Quick, not so easy to pick up. The tutorial doesn't really tell you the nuance of each archfiend and their respective campaigns do't necessarily hand hold you through their play styles, there is a snippet here and there that will hint at it, but it's largely up to you to figure it out. That's okay though, it's stylish, art is gorgeous, and it's fun. Easy 30 dollar drop.

To me it's the best 4x game out there. Played the original version many years ago and i came with high expectations, it did not let me down. The lore is fantastic as always and all the deep mechanics are still there. The essentials are easy to grasp but this is a game that will take some time to master. Every archfiend offers a distinct playstile so add that to the mix, you need to know how they play to understand what they'll try against you when you oppose them. The AI is serviceable for solo play but where this game shines is in async multiplayer (which the original implemented as play by e-mail). If you manage to get some people to play this with you'll get to experience something special and unique. I've seen critique to the price tag but I think it's totally justified, specially considering the niche this game caters to. Highly recommended if you like the genere!

Would have bought this two years ago if I'd even known it existed. Beautiful, unique strategy game. The concept of asynchronous strategy games is hugely underrated.

Im lazy. I never leave reviews. Except for superb indie games that need my contribution, and this is one. Really interesting game. Tried it for free (iykyk) and bought it to try the async gaming, thinking i would refund within the first two hours if i had any doubts. 22hs later here i am.

An amazing strategy game full of cut-throat competition with one of the most unique diplomatic mechanics I've seen, not to mention it has a lot of style. It has a really engaging war system, tight action economy, and a lot of devastating spells and artifacts to beat up your friends. I absolutely love this game since I am a board game hobbyist (and this is essentially a digital board game) and because I've always wished there were more adaptations of Paradise Lost. I must stress though that while it is turn-based, it is not a 4X game, not at all like Civilization. It is also best played with a group of friends, as you cannot get the same experience out of the AI at all. Personally, I think nothing of it as this is always the problem with board games (same with price, although I understand that is different). There are groups online that play if you look for them. I think my only criticism is that the early game is usually kinda boring, except for in a few cases, as it's usually best to just seek tribute and buy powers until you get a 4th level power or two to unlock extra action slots.
