Putt-Putt® and Pep's Dog on a Stick

[b]‘Crucify him!’[/b] [i]Dog on a Stick[/i] is a [i]Putt-Putt[/i] spin-off centred on Pep collecting bones and other treats on tiled maps. The plot is that the automobile and his canine companion went to the dump to drop off some recyclables, wherein the canid found a pogo stick. We never receive an explanation as to how this lead him to leaping around tiles collecting bones all over the world. You know why? Because the designers didn’t have a bloody clue either. I always assumed that a dog needs a pogo stick like a fish needs a bicycle, and this spin-off only proved my point. Anyway, the gameplay is heavily based on [i]Q*bert[/i], which I have admittedly never tried, but I am reluctant to give it a shot after slogging through this title. The first thing that made me uneasy about this game were the controls: you move Pep by clicking on the tile nearest to him, which sounds simple enough, but the way that the ‘go’ arrow attaches to tiles feels less smooth than you may expect. Because these tiles are so close together, the difference of a single pixel can result in selecting another title; it is easy to misclick and send him to either the wrong tile or the void by accident, so keep…

This one is basically Q-bert but with a bit of Putt-Putt flair. It is also further evidence that Putt-Putt is an irresponsible pet owner.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one, after playing Ballonorama, I thought this one was also going to be bad, but I enjoyed it. While it's still a bit lacking in gameplay, it still has far more then Ballonorama. It introduces mechanics faster, reuses them more, and the mechanics themselves are more fun. Also the difficulty curve here is way better, the game picks up the pace faster, around maybe level 30-40 and steadily ramps up the difficulty. There are some nitpicks, like how far too many enemies can occasionally jump off themselves and accidentally make the level super easy, or how some levels aren't difficult or exciting but a waiting game, and I hated the yellow portal levels. Also I think levels themselves were better designed? I remember far more of them, and the last 20 levels were amazing challenge that didn't felt too easy or too difficult, if you played well you should juuuust have enough lives to beat last few levels(95-100 especially were fun and challenging) Overall, it's still a good time, and even if you never played Qbert type of games, this should be a good start to try since it's beginner friendly, and if you want more gameplay like this, then you can try…

Firstly, I want to call attention to the fact that the store page LIES? It says, 'Over 100 levels of hound-hopping fun'. This is a lie. There are ONLY 100 levels in this game. I know because I just beat this stupid thing. I got to level 100, Putt-Putt announced it was 'level 100, wowie zowie' and then I beat it, and the game ends with an inexplicable cutscene that has nothing to do with anything that happens in the game. Anyway, so this game, Putt-Putt® and Pep's Dog on a Stick, is one of the worst games I have ever played. Again! I come to you now fresh off Putt-Putt® and Pep's Balloon-o-Rama, which was also one of the worst games I have ever played. This game, however, is much worse. So the basic gameplay is just, unbelievably, Q*bert. It's Q*bert! You get put on a bunch of floating cubes in space basically, with an isometric camera, and you use the MOUSE to aim where you want to go, and you just click where you want to go, to hop around on these cubes. Wow. I was honestly stunned beyond belief when I saw that this is what they had come up with, but to actually play it is another thing entirely.
