Purchase Date:
22nd of December 2019 - 22/12/2019
Purchase Value:
0.49€
PROS & CONS Review:
PROS: + Casual. + Nostalgic. + Puzzle variety. + Puzzle quantity. + Easy to 100% Steam achievements. CONS: - Music volume is too loud everytime the game is launched. - It doesn't fully support high screen resolutions.
Text Review:
Puzzler World is a casual puzzle video game that evoked in me a certain nostalgic feeling, even though it was my first time playing it. The simplicity of the visual art truly defines the 2010 era of indie titles. A lack of variety and quantity is definitely not an option, there really are a lot of puzzles to be solved. Each time the game is launched, before selecting the language and player's profile, the sound volume is extremely loud. It doesn't fully support modern/high screen resolutions, the maximum available screen resolution is 4:3. It works but has black bars on the screen sides. These were the only two downsides I could find. This line is for the achievement hunters. Although it takes some time, it's easy to obtain 100% Steam achievements.
Recommendation:
For the price I paid, it's very worthy…

Puzzler World is an old but largely entertaining compendium of casual puzzles. It comprises 1120 Challenge Mode puzzles of 14 types (Sodoku, Wordsearch, Hangman, Spot the Difference, Codeword, Crossword etc, but no logic puzzles), grouped into pairs - completing one gives access to its paired puzzle. There are no penalties for failing a puzzle or for using hints (earned by completing puzzles), and puzzles can be replayed without limit. The textual puzzles, particularly Wordsearch And Fitword, dominate, which was a little off-putting for me, as was the one memory game (Picture Quiz), but players who prefer just a few puzzle types can use the Quickplay mode for standalone access to any of 8 types of puzzle. There are 14 easy and undemanding achievements for playing each of the puzzle types ten times. The interface is bold, bright and relatively basic, though handwriting learning & recognition is offered (I haven't tried it). Link-A-Pix (drawing non-overlapping lines between pairs of identically coloured numbers which indicate how long the lines must be) was a particular highlight for me, which would be very frustrating on paper but which worked really well on a screen and with eas…
