✦ AI summary

Players consistently criticize Raid on Coasts for its outdated graphics, poor presentation, clunky controls, and lack of polish, with particular complaints about the overly close camera, hard-to-read UI, and nonexistent tutorial that makes the game feel unfinished despite being in early access. The game's gameplay mechanics are seen as underdeveloped and unenjoyable compared to established RTS titles, with weak AI and various usability issues like confusing enemy indicators and irritating audio detracting from the experience. While the core concept of a real-time strategy game involving base c
Raid on Coasts
...is a real-time strategy game. Tensions have reached the breaking point when war erupts between Russia and the United States of America over control of the Middle East.
⚙ Game Description & Mechanics ⚙
You start with a small squadron of soldiers in a map with about a dozen controllable outposts, each of which will supply you with funds, fuel and a spawn point for your troops and vehicles. The goal of the game is to control all the outposts, fortifying them and using their resources to have your troops advanced further. However, there is no set path between outposts, the enemy is free to circumvent your defenses and attack from any direction. Once your soldiers have moved into an outpost, they must hold it a few seconds for the control to take over, after which they should move immediately to the next outpost, as your opponent will not wait to move theirs. When you've taken control of the outpost, you must renovate it, fortify it, and put it to work, selecting what trooper or vehicle to build within the confines of your budget. You must also defend it, or enemy troops will just walk in and take it from you.
☺ What I enjoyed ☺[/…

-Quick Review- Raid on Coasts is an independently developed real time strategy game where It's the United States fighting the invading Russians on the same map with three different difficulty levels. -Detailed breakdown review- Gameplay: RTS is a tough genre to try to make a game for. Because on the one hand you have people who played the classic RTS's like Warcraft 1,2 and 3. Or Modern RTS's like Starcraft ... Now that I think of it, the most well known RTS's seem to come from Blizzard, don't they? I guess I've also played Red Alert, I've played Medieval: Total War... The point is: There are a lot of stand out titles in the RTS genre which makes the competition steep. More importantly, as many of us should know by now; we're bad at RTS's. Okay, maybe I can't speak for you, but I do know a fair amount of people who would be inclined to agree.. if you don't you haven't watched the South Koreans play Starcraft. Why this big build up? I just wanted to try to be semi-educational in this review. Raid on the Coasts doesn't have much to it. It's just one map, two armies going at it, has some bugs, the UI is slow and unresponsive, the keybindings are l…

Raid on Coasts is a top-down RTS game which is focused on establishing a beachhead with an invasion force. Direct your landing craft to a point on the coast, disembark the soldiers, and capture some flags (or, in the language of the game, big/little villages). The extremely broken Russian translation in this game doesn't do it any favours. The yardstick for "military" RTS games would have to be Command and Conquer from the 1990's. This game, with primative graphics not arguably better than a game from decades ago (yet released in 2017), compares very poorly. Even older, but more contemporary titles like Company of Heroes run laps around this. The gameplay is unfinished and unpolished, with a clunky top down interface and limited controls. For the same $5 price tag you can catch far, far better RTS games on sale. Completely impossible to recommend.

I received this game for free in return for my honest review. I guess you can call this a game. Is it playable? Yes. Is it enjoyable? No. The camera is too close. The font style and color make it difficult to read. The "music" is irritating. The controls give little feedback and the tutorial is nonexistent. Enemies are marked as green on the map which is the most backward thing about this game (and that really says a lot.) The graphics are low rez to the point of being no rez and they certainly aren't being helped by the camera being so close. The AI is subpar at best. Even on hard, it wasn't too difficult to win. Even getting this one for free made me feel like I was being ripped off.

This simple game has virtually no tutorial and hasn't been updated in over 2 years despite being in "EARLY ACCESS." Vaporware. Stay away.
