About Railroads Online
Build and manage your own railroad empire in a sprawling steam-era open world, laying tracks, driving detailed locomotives, and transporting goods across four massive maps to earn money and expand your operations. Play solo or team up with up to 15 friends in cooperative multiplayer mode, sharing the workload of creating rail networks with realistic physics simulation and full locomotive control.
Tracks, trains & more
Design your dream rail network from the ground up. Explore the world, scout the best route and lay down embankments, switches, turntables and more. Select and build tracks, bridges and other infrastructure buildings afterwards. Then cross the vast, open landscape in finely detailed locomotives and wagons. Interact with regulators, valves, brakes, couplers, and many more features in first-person view as you drive your vehicles. But you won't simply be driving around aimlessly! Your mission is to build up your company by transporting goods across the country, including timber, ore, coal, cattle, gold and other various freight items for a broad variety of industries. Earn money for every successful shipment and invest in new vehicles or upgrade and customize your existing locomotives. Plus: build stations, yards, and other infrastructure along your routes to service your trains with fuel, water, and sand. You can also build up a wide variety of iconic buildings and objects to create a beautiful surrounding for your railroad network.
Dead Abandonware
As of writing this review the last update was back in 2024 and there are only 95 people playing this game... I think that says everything you need to know about the game. Don't get me wrong, it's an alright game to play that I may pop in here and there. But it's riddled with bugs and it's kinda meh compared to others like Derail Valley and Railroader. The only unique feature is you BUILD your railway, which don't get me wrong; is a really cool feature. But it's a bit janky and the overall mechanics of the game could use some serious work. However; since the last update was over two years ago... i don't think that will ever happen. Thankfully, we have Century of Steam to look forward to... If it will ever release lol
TL;DR: Should you get it?
Ultimately that is up to you. I personally don't recommend it just because of it's janky mechanics and lackluster gameplay. BUT if you love trains that much, and me personally, I would recommend if you have at least one friend to play with - And you don't mind the price tag... Sure, why not. Go for it. But if I could go back... Yeah this game ain't worth $30 for me.2 found this helpful
I like trains :3 and initially i really started liking this game, being a good contrast to other train games i played. a big plus to this one is that you can lay your own tracks. A Squiggly bumpy ride up a mountain? or a more flat, more straight bridge across a valley? Choice is yours. But over the time i played Inconsistensies came up. Mostly Balancing issues. Why are 6 logs on a 30ft car barely worth more than 5 logs on a 10ft car? Why is coal a worse fuel than wood even tho you have to work hard for it, while you literally get wood for free? This plus bugs in menus, when rerailing plus the game hasnt recieved an update in over 2 years and mods not being supported/getting abandoned kinda can't make me recommend this game.
Game was ruined by updates and is no longer enjoyable. Updates stopped all together now. It used to be good. GGs.
