About RAKKA: WAKE 01 - SOOT
London,1993. Rakka clocks in, clocks out, and sleeps in a flat with three equally directionless blokes: Sascha, Björn, and Kev, the other twenty-somethings who’ve mastered the art of going nowhere. It’s dull, just the motions, and Rakka learns soon enough what the true meaning of ‘Be careful what you wish for,’ holds. A care package from work arrives with something it shouldn’t: a strange code. From that very moment, life starts to twist and turn into something wrong. Strange calls, paranoia, and escapism culminate in a series of unfortunate events that leaves the four roommates on edge.Rakka’s curiosity mutates into something insatiable. If people are willing to scare them over this code, then it matters. Feeling backed into a corner, the four arrive at a shared resolve: get out, catch up on the time they’ve wasted, and, somewhere at the end of it all, find out why this code is making strangers act like predators.Their road trip-mystery starts where a road trip should: a huge festival; Meant as a break from the chaos. From there it’s a spiraling chain of questionable people, worse events, and the kind of uncertainty that makes you doubt your own memory—blending four separate identity crises into one complete shitstorm of travel, unanswerable questions, and “what the hell did we just walk into?”The deeper they go, the clearer it gets: this mystery isn’t leading them to a prize. It’s leading them into a story that already started—without them.
RW1S is the first entry in the RAKKA series.
The festival features 15+ musical performances by collaborating artists, woven directly into the narrative so that music doesn’t just accompany the story — it drives it.
A Linear Mystery Built for Close Reading
RW1S is not a branching-route visual novel. It is a crafted linear narrative where the tension comes from dialogue, atmosphere, and the slow reveal of what is really happening. Explore scenes, follow conversations, and pay close attention to the things people say when they think they're being casual. Every glance, joke, object, and contradiction can pull the thread tighter.RW1S is the first entry in the RAKKA series.
The Real Festival Experience
A large part of RW1S takes place inside the game’s fully interactive festival — a living, breathing environment designed to capture the raw, chaotic energy of a real international music event. As players move between stages and hot-spots, they uncover more about the main cast and the web of characters orbiting them, while being immersed in a diverse sonic landscape that goes far beyond a traditional soundtrack. The festival features 15+ musical performances by collaborating artists, woven directly into the narrative so that music doesn’t just accompany the story — it drives it.
A Hand-Drawn Mystery With Bite
With detailed backgrounds, expressive character art, animated comic-style sequences, and a unique paper-cut visual identity, RAKKA aims to feel dense, handmade, and unpredictable. Its original soundtrack, led by The Paradox Music Team, gives the game its own rough-edged pulse: indie, chaotic, and hard to shake. This is a character-driven mystery about wasted time, bad decisions, curiosity, friendship, fear, and the awful moment when a joke stops being funny.Other Interesting Features
- Comedy club minigame.
- Hidden collectibles.
- Rakkapedia (for specific difficult words).
- CG Menu including unlockable cut-scenes and comic panels from the game.
- Unlockable Music library including the original game soundtrack + RAKKA Vol. 1 ALTIMINTAK by GITGOT.
What Steam players say

This is an exceptionally well-produced visual novel with a very charming style, a well-written cast of characters, and an incredible soundtrack. Everything from the UI, comic panels, sprite work, backgrounds, even the screen transitions feel lovingly and attentively designed, the story evokes a natural and familiar, relatable feeling without just banking on nostalgia, the incorporation of the in-universe bands and real featured ones is done so well that I was checking the credits every time I unlocked a song to see who made what. The game might as well be hand-stitched in its uniqueness, there's nothing lab-grown or factory-made about it, and I can't wait for Rakka's second chapter.3 found this helpful
I was given a free Steam key for the game in exchange for a non-binding promise of nebulous "some form of coverage". I was not otherwise coached on what to do, say, or expect, and I have not been compensated in any way. Everything below this line is purely my own thoughts. The first thing you see every time you open RAKKA: WAKE 01 is the game's graffiti-style logo unfolding on paper in front of a boiling backdrop of crinkly black paper. The second thing you see is a fully animated opening movie set to an original indie rock song. This intro looks AMAZING - professional quality OP for an especially stylish anime. I know this probably applies to, like, every game on Steam, but seriously, the compressed trailers on the website do not at all do justice to the visuals in the game. GITGOT did not particularly tell me what to expect from RAKKA: WAKE 01 before I started playing, but one vibe I definitely got from our conversations is that this is something an art collective made for the love of art and then found themselves scrabbling to find a way to monetize after the fact. I play a lot of indie art and story-centric games, and RAKKA: WAKE 01 has some of the most focused and stylish ar…2 found this helpful
I still intend to finish the game when i am able but i wanted to drop my thoughts on the game so far! So far i think the game is wonderfully written, drawn and composed. The characters have flaws, vices, but also good points to them as well and that makes them feel human and also can give the player/reader more of a faceted opinion on them. As for my favorite, at the moment it's Sacha, i always like the more serious types and hes serious and snarky at the same time while being one who seems like he doesnt like to ask for help! Music: The music in this game is well done! I like how mulitple tracks use the main theme in different ways ((Cellphone tone, happy tone, somber tone)) it also fits the era and i can tell love was put into it. I def will get the soundtrack at a later date. Art: I love the artstyle, the sketchy stlye reminds me of another VN i played int he day called Hotel Dusk and when i heard the devs also liked that style i was pretty interested. The background art is detailed, and the posters and backdrops are fun to hunt around, ((EX: the cure poster at the aparment.)) The setting is also a setting i dont see too often in games and that is the london rave/punk cult…2 found this helpful
I'm actually like kind of obsessed with this game I played the demo first and was absolutely stunned. I feel so cool just being the player reading through it. Very stylish visual aesthetic and the music is fire too. As I've continued through the full game, I find the writing is super engaging and the humor is peak. Plus every single one of our main characters has been very expressive, and they each seem to have a lot of depth as well. Every aspect of this game comes together just right to create an incredibly fascinating, immersive, and unique experience. I can't stop telling people about this VN or hype it up enough. No complaints or issues so far. If you're on the fence about playing this, I urge you to give it a chance. Content creator recommendation: makes a great game if you enjoy voice acting characters. The pacing is really good and my chat has really loved the visuals especially.1 found this helpful
This is an easygoing VN that immerses you in a world of '90s music festivals and friendship, with incredible art and music and hints of something darker beneath that will surely surface in future installments.
I was expecting an average visual novel, but oh boy does this game have personality There's not much gameplay to speak of, but the storytelling, especially the pacing is exquisite A strong 8.5/10 imo, highly recommended for the price point
