Randy & Manilla

This game is EXTREMELY rough around the edges. I wouldn't even go as far to say it's good. lol That being said, if I didn't like one part of it? The mechanics quickly changed. I kept playing and playing and playing...........

Nostalgic journey across several genres with minimal challenge and some small bugs. The game takes place in some kind of digital cosmos made up of numerous cubes. Each cube represents an entirely different universe with its own set of rules. However, there is one red cube ruled by an evil ruler who releases viruses to infect other cubes. Fortunately, there is one seemingly ordinary pair that can save the entire universe. The most appealing feature is that each world belongs to a different game genre. For example, the first is a 3D platformer, the second a universe of arcade machines, the third an action RPG, and so on. Although you can use a spacecraft to go throughout the digital galaxy and visit cubes on your own, there is a clear path through the game and you can only access the cube that is next on the list. You can also select the playable character when you first enter the world, but both play the same. Each cube has a number of stages and a boss fight that must be completed in accordance with its genre. Edit: creator says it's because I was too close to the cubes when I was destroying them for two of the cubes to count, but he would try to patch it. Play here: https://youtu.be/FhCdKB-gpK4 I really like the visuals and the music is pretty relaxing to me it seems more centered to a younger audience, but still a nice little throw back to retro platforming games. It is a shame that the game doesn't autosave unless you check the box at the start of the game so it's highly recommended to check auto save since going into the third world I chose manilla and the game crashed. The game play is a bit rough with the characters being slidey as they'll travel a bit further past what you and it may be better on controller, but on pc it takes some getting used to.

Fun little platfomer with alot of suprises

Randy and Manilla is an ambitious and charming little game. The controls are a little bit janky on the Steam Deck but the developer is actively working to address that. Other than the control issue, it runs well both on Steam Deck and Linux. The graphics are cartoony and look great, and the performance is excellent. The multiple genres that it includes keeps it fresh and interesting way more than it would if it was just a platformer, or a puzzler, etc. The amount of work it must have taken to create this does not line up with the price tag; Randy and Manilla is easily underpriced and you should grab a copy before the developer fixes that. :) An easy recommend from me.

Randy & Manilla is a cute and fun game where it doesn't need just 1 genre to be entertaining. I recommend this game to be played in off time if you have a job OR just in general if you are child or adult! Some things aren't exactly spelled out on what you can do BUT it's nothing you can't figure out just by pressing buttons 9/10
