Here's what you do:
You start as a bunny and a bird who are in debt. You see a flyer about a rare jewel that is supposed to be on an island and so you go looking for it as a way to pay off your bills. Your primary means of attack is to pick up certain things in each stage to throw at enemies to defeat them (like SNES Goof Troop). You start off with a shovel and get a new tool in each stage (except the final stage). You can play the entire game as one or two players. If one player dies, they can be revived by moving to a new screen. If both players die (you can't leave the room in a boss fight), then you are sent back to the start of the stage and lose half your money, BUT you keep all your keys and tools collected and you can reclaim your lost money in the room where you died. So, it is usually not far to get back to where you were.
What I like:
+ Getting a new tool in each stage is nice. The hammer in particular is useful for breaking rocks in every stage. The shovel is a fun distraction to dig up treasure on every screen. + There is a shop in every stage, where you can use the treasure to buy health upgrades, max 2 :( or refill your health. There is a potion t…1 found this helpful
What a fun & cheerful co-op game! I appreciate the practice mode because as far as I can tell, you can't die and just lose money when hit. Perfect for playing with little kids!1 found this helpful
I was hoping for a spiritual successor to Goof Troop on the SNES, and Dandy & Randy DX is not that. It is really easy, really short, and the handful of puzzles are very, very simple. Having said that, what I wanted even more than a Goof Troop successor was a game I could play with my SO (someone who is not much of a gamer and has difficulty with mechanics like "jumping") and I did get that! The controls were relatively simple, there isn't much punishment for failing (when one player dies, they can come back for free once the other player walks to a neighboring section), and the puzzles didn't involve any frustration. We had fun together for a couple of hours, beat the game and got all the achievements. There isn't much there, but as a game you can play with someone who is perhaps more of a "casual" gamer, Dandy & Randy DX serves a purpose. I enjoyed the pixel art and character sprites, and the music is quite good (if a bit repetitive).1 found this helpful
Cute little adventure game! Seems like it's best played with a partner, and I did so using steam's remote play together feature. Some vague rough edges in the action side are generally balanced out by the game being pretty easy, music and visuals are cute and energetic, overall it's a nice, snappy li'l thing. Probably the biggest critique we had was needing re-traverse the level over again after dying to the last boss - we didn't need to re-collect keys, but it felt a tiny bit excessive. Still, fun!
Great SNES Goof Troop-like. we had a great coop time! Super easy, short, cool plot twist in the end. The game is undeniable Brazilian, the writing totally shows it. Totally recommend to any one which is looking for co-op experience, with players any skill level
Game freezes on startup after initial launch, requiring complete reinstall to run again EVERY TIME.
