RD Mars is an unusual beast, being part adventure/puzzle game, part visual novel, and part 2D top down shooter. And this depth of game design would be welcome, if it was matched with high quality technical implementation... which RD Mars is not. It seems like a lot of effort was wasted putting a frankly immaculate cosmetic routine onto a dead pig. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display…

On the surface this is a fun top down shooter with bullet hell like bosses and simple but entertaining mechanics. But RD Mars tells a thought provoking and touching story about self forgiveness and acceptance. Overcoming trauma and learning to live with your mistakes. You'll navigate several levels as a cute AI robot, fighting enemies and exploring the remains of a laboratory while learning about the man who once worked there, Felix Darwins, yourself in sense as you are an artificial intelligence based on his mind and consciousness. Explore themes of loss and tragedy. Learn of your mistakes and how to overcome them. Fight for your humanity and know that time heals most wounds. RD Mars is an absolutely wonderful indie game that is fun to play and leaves you with a lot to think about. Highly recommend.

RD Mars is a enjoyable game with an immersive story. I play tested the game,(for free) and bought it to play again, and I was pleasantly surprised with each play! This is somewhat irrelevant but I purchased the game with the hopes of writing about it for my english class. Thanks Ty for making a game that is analyzable for a Rhetorical Analysis :).

So, been playing the game here and there. Great way to kill time. RD Mars really pulls you win, with some surprising story elements and awesome game mechanics, it still freaks me out that ONE GUY made this game. A humble creation from a humble creator. If you are looking for a fun and fast shooter from the view of a robot then go for it. Having a really good time playing the game, try it out. It will leave you satisfied.

A small but an intriguing game, it starts out feeling sort of like a topdown arcade shooter which quickly gives way to reveal a deeper story of psychological themes dealing with memory, identity, and loss, it sincerely caught me offgaurd at times and was well worth the playthrough. The game does have a couple of difficulty spikes irt the bosses, but it's a relatively short game so nothing ever feels like it overstays it's welcome. If you like games like Yume Nikki or LISA then consider giving this one a peak! (*full disclosure, the dev gifted me this game and I played through it on my youtube, that said, opinions are fully my own and I do not know the dev personally)

Mars is just your cute little shooting bot, this game has both RPG and shooters mechanics, really reminds of old school titles like Galaga or Space Invaders but with a touch of uniqueness. The pixel art is nice to the eyes, the evasion + reflection mechanics works pretty well and even some of the enemies pose a threat if you aren´t careful with their beams. If you are into short-ish kinda games and love the mix between RPG and shooting retro games then this one is for you!
