Rest In Paws

Really nice game. It was a bit clunky at times and had some wonky physics, but nothing too bad. The graphics, music, and story were all really nice, and the gameplay was solid. I'd say it's worth the hour of so of your time it takes to finish the game.

Rest In Paws is a surprisingly emotional little platformer, and I was not expecting a game about a cat's afterlife to hit me quite as hard as it did. I play as Kebab, a rural cat who has passed away from old age and is now travelling through memories from her life. I really liked the idea of exploring the world through the eyes of a character who is trying to understand her own past and eventually come to terms with what happened. The platforming is fairly simple, but it works well with the game's reflective atmosphere. I move through different environments, jump across obstacles and interact with objects such as buttons, rotating mechanisms and boxes. I liked that the puzzles encourage me to look at the environment carefully rather than simply rushing forward. The platforming gives me something active to do while the story remains the main focus. Collecting memories is probably my favorite part of the progression. These memories help reveal Kebab's history and give more meaning to the places I am exploring. Short and sweet game, the movement is a little janky but I loved playing it!

A very sweet game with easy graphics, soothing music and gameplay similar to early 2000s SNES. If you wander around you will encounter rock formations with the keyplay to utilise. Follow the fireflies to find what path you are meant to take. The use of no save iconogry but a re-spawn function gives feel to the fact that this is a life story of something that has already passed away and has time to learn how to get across with patience in sometimes impossible jumps (again utilising 2000s gameplay that some jumps in games to get to areas were indeed impossible and playing them would get you used to being able to line up your character just right to become successful in getting across). Use of animal spirit with a galaxy coat and seeing itself on the bed with its owner in first chapter just sets up for what you are going to be encountering as this cat discovers the underworld. I liked the storyline. It showcases that your pets are never far from you. They never forget you. You just can't see them. A few tears were shed. Overall, an easy but sweet game. I recommend giving it over to kids to help guide them through grief.

Walk around as a cat and attempt impossible jumps? Sure, why not, its free I suppose.
