Not sure what the hell this abomination of a game I just played was, but it gave me achievements. Literally recommended to nobody, the suffering my eyes went through were not worth the achievements.

"Return of Red Riding Hood Enhanced Edition" is not a game, it's a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". To answer that question: When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This E-book features Choose-Your-Own-Adventure elements where you make some decisions that don't do anything to change the fact this is just an E-Book. Nobody finished reading a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book and said "Boy, what a great game I just played!". Because E-books aren't games. And neither is this. This E-book is basically Russian shovelware designed to pollute Steam and generate roubles through selling points shop items and trading cards... it was never intended to be a real, serious game (or even e-book). Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best..…

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…

Return of Red Riding Hood Enhanced Edition, developed and published by NLB project, is a reimagining of the classic fairy tale that leans heavily into nonlinear storytelling, humor, and surreal reinterpretation rather than traditional narrative structure. Instead of offering a straightforward retelling, the game presents itself as a collection of alternate scenarios, each shaped by the player’s decisions and often diverging wildly from the source material. This approach transforms a familiar story into something unpredictable, where the tone can shift from lighthearted parody to bizarre or even unsettling moments without warning. The gameplay begins with a short interactive segment that incorporates basic point-and-click mechanics. In this opening phase, players explore a small environment, gather items, and prepare for what follows. While this portion adds a layer of interactivity, it is relatively simple and brief, serving more as a prelude than a core feature. Once completed, the game transitions fully into a visual novel format, where progression is driven by dialogue choices and branching paths. This shift can feel somewhat abrupt, but it reinforces the game’s focus on storyt…

As far as choose-your-own adventure type visual novels go there are definitely much worse ones out there. I went in for my .89 cents expecting very little and perhaps to get a few laughs out of the bizarre scenarios people noted, and was pleasantly surprised. The music is a bit generic and although many of the endings are similar there are enough different and wacky branching paths that are pretty entertaining. This was I believe translated from Russian and although clunky and a bit strange sometimes in word choice it overall didn't hurt the experience and perhaps enhanced the entertainment factor. A couple of times the script made me straight up laugh out loud! Check it out if you enjoy any of the devs other projects or are looking for a very surreal and weird Russian visual novel about Little Red Riding Hood.
