Riddle Tower

I do not understand how this game can such good reviews because it absolutely does not deserve them. While the premise is good, the execution leaves just about everything to be desired, mainly regarding the puzzles themselves. I guess the developer never heard of the saying "quality over quantity". There is 800 puzzles and 95% of them are either way too easy, unenjoyably BS hard or require some knowledge that you very well could go without learning about otherwise. There is also multiple puzzles that don't accept 100% correct alternative solutions, have hints that straight up tell you the wrong information or repeat themselves. The 5% that are actually satisfying to solve do not make up for the rest. With the sheer abundance of absolutely fantastic puzzle games out there you can easily skip this one. Works without any issues on Linux with Proton (9.0-4).

It has a fun premise and is implemented effectively in terms of its styling and visuals, as well as providing a simple narrative to incentivise progress. However, it falls short when it comes to the puzzles and riddles themselves with much discrepancy in quality and accessibility. There is a lot of assumed knowledge and the design of some conundrums is problematic. There are some quality riddles dotted amongst the levels but these do not make up the bulk of the game and as such the experience is a bit lacklustre and even exasperating at times. I wanted to enjoy this game, especially as it offers a lot of potential playtime and seems to be something of a labour of love from the developer, but lamentably, I cannot confidently recommend it. I don't know why anyone would ask for my opinion if Riddle Tower is worth it. But, if you really care, let me tell you this. I am a guy who loves arithmetic problems. So I kinda dived into that section of the game immediately. Most of the times, games like Riddle Tower tend to be repetitive, which is something you don't come across in that game. It has good scaling difficulty as you progress + the humor that the little monkey uses to fill the time between levels, is just some extra flavor that shows how much the developer enjoyed making this game! Of course there are much more for someone to do in that game, just than arithmetic problems. I just wanted to talk about what I enjoyed the most.

I’ve spent over 41 hours playing this quiz game, and I can honestly say it’s been an awesome experience. The mix of questions kept me engaged the whole way through — some were clever, some were funny, and a few really challenged me (in the best way xD). What I loved most is how the game keeps pulling you back in. Whether you’re going for a high score, testing your memory, or just having fun with friends, there’s always something to enjoy. The polish and effort that went into making this really shows, and it’s clear a lot of passion was behind it. If you enjoy quiz games, trivia, or just want something that’s fun and surprisingly addictive, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Big respect to the creator. A puzzle game that truly challenges the mind. It may not be the most exciting title, but it’s fun with friends and trains patience and persistence. With its clever puzzles, large scale, and a price of only €5, it’s definitely worth it. Ειναι για μερακληδες!
